Very little separated the Top 10 overall this week, but knocking out the competition, only just, was Oscar bait drama CINDERELLA MAN which tipped with $1,369,572, and together with last week's advance screenings has managed a rather underwhelming $1,573,084 (US $18,087,552). The opening is the 4th best for Crowe, and the 42nd best for the month of September. Dipping a soft 5% and managing a rise in the top 3, WALLACE AND GROMIT added an additional $1,312,966 to their bank, which now sits at a rather decent $7,357,851 (US $84,601,659) after only 3 weeks in play. Also keeping the kids entertained, and dropping softly, this week only 20%, CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY maintains hold in the top 3 after 5 weeks with a stellar $22,234,426 (US $255,654,720), securing it so far as the 3rd Highest Grossing film of the year, the 47th of All Time, up from #70 last week, and the 2nd best for Depp, only trailing his 2003 hit Pirates of the Caribbean with $25.42m. Critically slaughtered comedy THE DUKES OF HAZZARD has accumulated a much healthier total than I was expecting in its 3 weeks, with the Seann William Scott flick up to $8,145,904 (US $93,662,809), inching it in the Top 20 Highest Grossing films of the year at #20. Last week's top dog DEUCE BIGALOW: EUROPEAN GIGOLO fell to #5, but didn't lose as much as one might expect, with a 41% drop. Another film savaged by the critics, it managed a further $1,078,094 this week, sending its total to $3,878,196 (US $44,592,071). 'Firefly' fans sent SERENITY to #6 on its first week, with $1,049,530, but all up it has managed $1,111,987 (US $12,785,791) taking its barely there preview screenings into account. Jason Statham ass kicked his way into #9 with the action sequel TRANSPORTER 2, pulling out $701,308 (US $8,063,743), which beat the original's opening of $515k, on its way to a $1.57m finish, a total this sequel looks likely to overtake. Wes Craven's fright flight RED EYE had the second biggest descent of the week, 61%, as its cinema run comes to an end. After 5 weeks the Rachel McAdams thriller has scored $3,524,222 (US $40,522,026). And managing the biggest fall this week, another air-themed outing of sorts, STEALTH dropped 74% to spend its 4th, and final, week in release at #20. The Josh, Jess and Jamie actioner has rounded up $2,286,380 (US $26,289,135) all together.

THIS WEEK (October 6th): John and Diane hope to learn some new romantic tricks; and Steve Carrell looks to pop his cherry.
