An article about it (http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2005/10/07/politics/main926916.shtml)

This is like the Medicare bill that happened some time ago. The bill that the head republicans want to pass doesn't, so they hold the vote open for 50 minutes after the alotted time so they can twist arms to change the vote. Of course, eventually it gets passed with a 212-210 vote. Watching the opposers of the bill yelling "Shame!" put a smile on my face though.

Do you think that they shouldn't have stretched out the time?

The time shouldn't have been stretched, unless you want to make a bill with a new provision that allows fifty additional minutes to the already stated time.

I don't recall any polls in my county staying open an hour longer so I could rally more people to vote non-Republican.

There's not much to it.

It was a filibuster, and nothing really new to politics. The whole thing is perfectly acceptable. There are some wild stories about people doing this in the past. The vote for the Fair Wage act in America laster for a couple weeks. Strom Thurman is well-known for having dehydrated himself so he didn't have to go to the bathroom befor he attempted to filibuster the Civil Rights Act.

Filibusters can be good, or bad, depending on whether or not you agree with the outcome.

This was all very well handled in the KING OF THE HILL episode "Flush With Power" (season 4)

To tell you the truth, ever since I noticed your favorite movie listed as Jesus Christ Serial Rapist I've been torn about responding to you. I think on the one hand that it is your right to say it but on the other hand I feel like you are disrespecting my very best friend so...I am torn.

hahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

Come on Lynn, you think that's serious? I mean Jesus was way cool...

Jesus was way cool
Everybody liked Jesus
Everybody wanted to hang out with him
Anything he wanted to do, he did
He turned water into wine
And if he wanted to
He could have turned wheat into marijuana
Or sugar into cocaine
Or vitamin pills into amphetamines

He walked on the water
And swam on the land
He would tell these stories
And people would listen
He was really cool

If you were blind or lame
You just went to Jesus
And he would put his hands on you
And you would be healed
That's so cool

He could've played guitar better than Hendrix
He could've told the future
He could've baked the most delicious cake in the world
He could've scored more goals than Wayne Gretzky
He could've danced better than Barishnikov
Jesus could have been funnier than any comedian you can think of
Jesus was way cool

He told people to eat his body and drink his blood
That's so cool
Jesus was so cool
But then some people got jealous of how cool he was
So they killed him
But then he rose from the dead
He rose from the dead, danced around
Then went up to heaven
I mean, that's so cool
Jesus was way cool

No wonder there are so many Christians
