Any other example of this shtty marketing trend?

I don't know if this counts but I really hate it when they release a supposed ultimate edition of a DVD. Inferring that it is the definitive edition and is the pinnacle of released versions. As if they never plan on releasing another version later on down the road. Yeah right.

Back to the subject of the actual rant - I thought the Bueller Bueller Edition was one of the most stupid things I'd ever heard concerning DVDs. I agree with you totally on how some of the people get a little too creative (in their own minds anyway) when it comes to marketing new DVD editions.

Plus, there's the fact that these "extra special" editions rarely add anything new to the previous editions.

Has anyone mentioned CLUELESS: "WHATEVER!" EDITION??
No?? Yeah, that was the first thing that came to my mind when I saw this thread.

The Bueller Edition is the worst. Anyone notice they only seem to do this for comedies?

It was fun and clever when only a few titles came up with one of these, but now it's becoming a parody of itself.

Though my favorite has to go to Kung Pow's "The Chosen Edition."

I'm still waiting for my Showdown in Little Tokyo: "Biggest Dick I've Ever Seen On A Man Edition."

I thought I'd already said this -- but this is the best rant ever!

Didn't Evil Dead have a BOOM STICK EDITION? or was that a fantasy I had?

I can't even think of any off hand, but yeah -- this is a stupid trend in DVD marketing.

I'm going to put out a DVD of one of my self-made movies that's never been released, and call it "The Version The Theaters Wouldn't Show!"

Yes. That's the one I own. It's a reissue of the two disc version they released a long time ago that is super rare - it was in a double wide case. The Bookstick version has all the same stuff though: Both versions of the movie, behind the scenes, etc.

The Director's Cut of that movie is actually one of the few I like less than the theatrical version.

I pitty the Army of Darkness collector who has to get every version of this movie. They release a new DVD just about every year. Ditto Evil Dead. Ditto Evil Dead 2.

I hate DVDs that give away key plot points.....

The Usual Suspects : Kevin Spacey is Kaiser Sose Edition

That one ticked me off a little.

I think most of these titles are pretty stupid, but I actually like the one for the Office Space SE:

Office Space: Special Edition with Flair

movieguy1021

Wedding Crashers: "Motorboating son-of-a-bitch edition"

I too like the Office Space one

HedwigX

The Empire Strikes Back: The "Luke, I Am Your Father" Edition
Citizen Kane: The "Rosebud is a sled" edition

The Postmaster General

I think they should have just called it;

OFFICE SPACE (WITH FLAIR)

That would have been cooler, IMO.
