View Full Version : The Sci-Fi Channel Sucks!

Is it just me or does the Sci-fi channel play the stupidest shit. I don't know I just think all of their shows seem alike & are just plain dumb. I remember Sci-Fi used to play some good horror movies when I was younger. Now it seems like they just play Crappy made for tv movies or straight to dvd movies like Frankenfish. I could be wrong but I think Sci-Fi needs to shape up or ship the fuck out.

while Sci-Fi over here in the UK plays some stuff im interested in, its mostly garbage that i cant be bothered with or stuff they've already shown a couple dozen time in a few months

Hey Hey Hey, Frankenfish is surprisingly decent!
I went to the states and watched some of Sci Fi channel and wow, terrible edits, to many adverts, it's horrible.

Raging Bull, you are preaching to the choir!
Can I get an amen?!
:o
I used to actually enjoy the programming that they run on that station.
Coming from the inner city (South Bronx!), as a youth, all I got was Channel 2-13, maybe Channel 25 or 31 if the signal was good.

When I got to Jersey, Sci-Fi channel was like the most amazing thing I'd ever seen! So many cool shows! So many sci fi movies that I hadn't seen in a long time! Day AND night? I watched it religiously.

Amen!
:o

But in recent years, it's been retooled. HORRIBLY retooled and the worst programming has been slapped onto a once great station!

And the main cause? These Sci-Fi Original Movies!

I'm an aspiring screenwriter and I will not knock the next man's script...but some of this shit is just too horrible to view!

Riverworld?
Epoch?
Legend of Earthsea?

And if there's one more f**king bug or snake movie on, I'm going to toss my damned lunch!

Sci-Fi Channel, it's not too late.
Go back to what works!
Do it for the people!

Amen!
:o

It's horrible. Ditto what RustyRazor said. How many more monster on the loose movies can they come up with?

They cancelled one of the best shows ever... FarScape. 'Nuff said!

ED! EDONLINE! THANK YOU! I WAS MASKING THE PAIN ON THAT ONE!

But I needed to be reminded.

When Stargate ends its run, I might not be watching this station that much anymore.

It's a damn shame.:(

I want Universal to start up Firefly again and air it on Scifi. :(

They did do an all day thing recently.

Honestly I lost faith in Sci-Fi channel when they started to air Raiders of the Lost Ark and Liar, Liar on their channel. But I have to be honest, I cannot wait for their remakes of The Andromeda Strain and The Thing.

Like the rest of you I agree the SciFi channel does indeed suck. When they aren't playing Z-level monster movies they are chopping up good horror movies making then completely devoid of anything, well horrific.
The Horror Channel will remedy that, hopefully.

Wasn't The Horror Channel supposed to be here by now?!

I talked to some of the guys that work for the Horror channel a couple of weeks ago and they said it debuts this October on the 27th.
I think it is starting out in another channel so you might have to check their site(horrorchannel.com) to see if your area is showing it, and on what channel it will be on.

Me too! Happy f**kin' birthday to us. Anyways, I like the Sci-Fi Channel, but then again I am a sucker for B-movies. So I fairly enjoy it. It's always a good laugh.

P.S.
I still don't get the Liar, Liar thing. I do like that movie though.

Rock On!!

I FORGOT ABOUT MYSTERY SCIENCE THEATER 3000!

Call it campy, call it low brow, call it crap.
That show was one of the funniest f**king things I've seen in my 33 years on this earth

Mike Nelson, Crow T Robot, and Tom Servo.
How could you cancel this show? And then get rid of the reruns?!

I might be alone in this, but for those that loved MSK3, you share my pain. Just another example that ghost hunting reality shows and snake flicks are a lot more important to the Sci Fi Channel than funny ass shows like MSK3.

Oh come now, while I agree with a lot of the opinions on the original movies I have to ask. Does no one here like Battlestar Galactica? It's the best Sci/Fi show in years!

Uhm, Bonnie Hammer and Co. can kiss my rear with thier new "battlestar craptacular.

Look, I know many people just adore the new "remake" of the series. Fine, enjoy. But what they did with the remake, what was promised, what came about, how it happened...

Nah, the original may have been chesy, but it's premis was far more fun then this garbage they have on now. The Sci-Fi Channel is crap,a nd I refuse to watch anything on it. Period.

I have to agree with the Mr., misters.

I tried to follow it, I loved Edward James Olmos, it's NOT Battlestar Galactica. It's 90% new war story and 10% elements from a classic sci-fi show.

Great example? Another thread about the new Warriors movie being set in LA. It's NOT the classic, it's not a remake, it's

AN INTERPRETATION!

I've seen those college geeks doing interpretations of famous historical figures in the park over in Manhattan, NYC.

I've never wanted to beat the shit out of someone more. (Except mimes. Why won't they leave me alone?!)

It's not Battlestar Galactica.
And Sci Fi Channel does indeed suck.

I pretty much stopped watching it completely after Farscape was cancelled. That show was awesome. I'll probly pick up the season 2.3 starburst edition dvd today. Actually, I watched Scare Tactics when it came on with the crappy baldwin bro, but other than that, nothin else. Every movie thats on is about a huge mutated bug or ancient unleashed monster.

I miss the reruns they used to play of different TV shows, cult classic films, and big screen blockbusters. Now, they play their so called "original" crap. And it is absolutely terrible.

The Sci Fi Channel was bought out by USA NETWORKS (I believe), please correct me if I'm wrong . Thus the decisions are being made by network bigwigs who run endless re-runs of every variation of Law&Order.....

If you're right, that would explain their change from good programming and thought out stuff to the recycled / man v.s. nature or man v.s. animal movies they keep pumping out.

If they start showing "Coach" on Sci-Fi, I'm done.

What w as so great about the original Battlestar Galactica. I tried watching soem of it and it was just so campy, annoying, and dumb. I really hated the show. I eprsonally love the remake since its grim and it actually has characters I care about.

Personally I think MSTK3 is one of those shows that should neevr have been canceled. Its cheap to make and there will alwyas be bad movies. If they ever do a reunion epsiode to rip apart Battlefield Earth and Gigli i can die a happy man.

If it's not about aliens, it's about giant mutated insects that storm a city. C'mon SciFi! Get creative!

Man! Those original movies they air on sci fi are worse than watching a remake of Ishtar. Lame stories, crappy cgi made monsters. Ed Wood films are even better than that celluliod crap they air on sci fi.
