Great to know Full Metal Alchemist is so high regarded in Japan (at least to audiences). I hope they do more another series, maybe another movie.
Interesting list, gives me plenty reccomendations.

Hmm, that's interesting. I guess they don't think much of Cowboy Bebop over there. I never liked Full Metal Alchemist, I'm surprised so many people do.

Is there an anime version of (58.)Tom & Jerry?? Why else woudl that be there? That sure is odd that Bebop aint up there, plus although Hellsing was on up late, ya'd think both would do better then Digimon...puhlease!

Those Japanesse sure have a different sense of taste. Their into some really weird stuff--well weird for me, normal to them. I think Bebop caters more to the American way than to the Japanesse audience. Shit, you should look at some of the top playstation games over there. While we have stuff like Grand Theft auto as their favorites, their favorites games are like rpgs about cooking or something like that lol

looking at the list...
i would think that the survey was targetted at the younger audience nowadays.....
so anime like bebop which has been around for quite some time now didnt do too well....
by the way...
i heard that they are doing a second series for full metal alchemist....
for the FMA fans... you would haev known that the anime runs a different storyline from the manag itself....
and from what i have gathered...
in the second series, the boys have grown up and all....
so you guys can look out for it....

I haven't heard nothing about a second series of FMA. The closest thing is the movie that was recently aired in Japan.
About the list I think you're right about being targeted at younger audience. I've seen Mahou Sensei Negima (Number 4 on the list) and is crap IMO.Its even worse than the Love Hina anime (both are from the same author).

They even ommited Big O from the list; that show doesn't seem to get much love from any audience, it is one of my favorites, though.

They don't know what their talking about. Im American, therefore my word is law, and I say Full Metal Alchemist IS NOT #1, Berserk ownz all, and Jin Roh, Hunter D, and Ninja Scroll MOST DEFINETELY BELONG ON ANY LIST PERTAINING TO F'ING ANIME!!!! THEY MAKE ANIME!!!! BAH!!! Now I'm angry...I think I'll go beat the shit out of my Japanese friend....

um...it's Samurai Champloo...get it right if you're going to complain about them not putting it on the list..
Sorry about that, but I have a Samurai Champloo hoodie that I wear around at school alot and all the ignorant nonsensical idiots, no offense, always try and read it as "Samurai Shampoo" when it obviously says "Samurai Champloo."
My sincerest apologies, it's a pet peeve.

Heidi at no.9?! I used to watch that on my days off (mostly because it's the only thing my Japanese is good enough to follow). I didn't realise it was that popular though.

It was very popular in Latinamerica and Europe too. Besides it was made by Hayao Miyasaki (Spirited Away, Princess Mononoke).

I remeber hearing that GOTS SAC was so popular in japan that they began to make the 2nd gig as they were finishing the first series (i think it was on the first collection book i heard this), anyways the list has it on 69 or maybe not at all (cuz it only has ghost in the shell and doesnt say if its just the first movie or what..), i mean yeah the list aint official but i find that odd aswell....and damn evangelion should be higher then 20 ffs!:p
