Alex Proyas is one of my favorite directors. I loved The Crow (9/10), thought Dark City (9/10) was beautiful, and, hell I even kinda dug Garage Days (7/10). I was a little upset about I, Robot (6/10) but it still has its moments.

I would love to see Alex step up and do something original. I heard a while back he was going to do a film adaptation of The Masque of the Red Death but Lord of the Rings came out and he felt that people would think he was being derivative.

BAH! FUCK LORD OF THE RINGS, ALEX! You're Alex-Fuckin'-Proyas! Trump those Hobbit assholes and give audiences something new and refreshing like you used to!

I consider I, Robot (8/10) to be his best film so far, as opposed to Crow (7/10) and Dark City (6/10). So I'm happy about the direction he has taken.

Dark City kicked monkey ass. There are so many generic cookie cutter movies out there that it was refreshing to see someone with a new idea. Being the writer and director on the flick he really showed what type of visionary he is, and he did a lot with a small budget (think i read it was cost around 17mil to make). The music, the camera work, the feel and look of the movie....top shelf stuff.

The Crow was also a great flick. Style over substance isn't a problem with Proyas, he has plenty of both. I look forward to more of his work.

I agree, I love the guy and he really needs to come up with a great new film. I heard rummors that he migth do Jarassic Park 4 and that REALLY depresed me...:(

Alex proyas' next film KNOWING sounds like an enthralling premise. This may be a return to the heights of DARK CITY which we so crave. (I walked out of I Robot it was os embarrassing)

Richard kelly (Donnie Darko) was originally meant to direct it.

Anyone check his www.mysteryclock.com site?

The Crow - 10/10
Dark City - 10/10
Garage Days - rented and was so bored I did house work to entertain myself
I, Robot - I refuse to see this movie, I can't stand Will Smith and the robots looked terrible. His work with miniature models in The Crow and Dark City were brilliant, I have no idea why he would want to start working with CG like everyone else.

Hopefully Alex just stumbled a bit with his last two efforts and will return to greatness with his next opus.
