And Joe Pesci must be in it! I don't give a shit how cliched it will look, but they just need to do it before they all die. I don't care if it's a comedy, whatever, just do it please!

Who agrees?

I'm sorry, but is this a rant? If so... how?
I sometimes think it's funny when someone makes a sentence like "School sucks! Who agrees?"

It's even funnier when it's in the wrong section.

Who agrees?
:D

Martin Scorcese is too busy trying to find Leo's polyps to work with a master again, and DeNiro is too busy jacking off on Jay Roach's bank account to...

Ah, who am I kidding. It doesn't bother me that much that they aren't working together lately.

Yes they have ( Deniro & Scor-cese*) have worked together in an movie recently. It may have NOT been Taxi Driver quality but it was this flick....

Agreed. I think Scorcesce should re-direct, and Paul Schrader should re-write Hide and Seek. I think it could rule with the proper man with the pen, and the proper eye behind the camera.

bahahaha.

From the insanely harsh words vini used in his rant, I don't think that'll be enough to appease his outrage over the lack of Scorsese/Deniro projects.

scorcese is one of my favorite filmmakers of all time, but the last truly great film he made was goodfellas. i liked casino, but didn't love it - the pileggi-scorcese team did a much better job structuring the story and narration of goodfellas.

since casino, it's been mediocre films, documentaries (which i haven't seen, they're probably very well made), and oscar bait (a la gangs of ny, the aviator).

so i guess my main rant isn't so much as to have deniro and scorcese team up again, which i'm all for by the way, but for scorcese to return back to old form. take risks, make flicks that are innovative, forget about the damn oscar already - you'll get a lifetime achievement award soon enough.

i've grown up with films like taxi driver, raging bull, mean streets, and goodfellas. if scorcese can pull out just one more film that comes close to any of those before his career is over, i will be satisfied.

Thank god - someone else who feels the same way about Scorcese.

I watched The Aviator, and my single complaint was the directon -- that was pretty much when I started doubting Scorcese's current capacity to keep blowing me away. A word Scorcese should relearn - "Cut"

BRINGING OUT THE DEAD -- I actually liked quite a bit, and consider it my favorite of his since Goodfellas.

Meh, you know that if they start to do that then they'll just make another disaster like CASINO (what people see in this I may never know).

Is it so obvious that Marty is going for the Oscar? Tis true that his last film lacked the personal passion, and the only Scorsese-ish about it is the fine craftmanship but he hasn't specified in an interview a desire to win an Oscar before he retires, has he? Personally, I'd like to believe that such a talent, who could work out of the studio system if he wished, wouldn't take $100 million and his time for a silly award.

With DeNiro, I don't think Scorsese needs him. They have made some great movies together, but I don't see how the two working together equals a great movie. DeNiro never came off as a muse to me. They feel like two separate beings who've happened to make great movies together.

Also, I don't think you can make an argument that "Gangs of New York" was Oscar bait. Oscar bait means movies that are made for winning awards? Or movies that screams Oscars? If the latter, that shouldn't be an insult, and if the former, I'm not sure how you would know the motives behind the creation, therefore it probably scramt Oscars.

One thing Scorsese has going for him, and this is off-topic, is that he probably has the best personality out of all the living directors. "My Voyage to Italy" is watchable, not only for wonderful analysis of great Italian films, but to see some true passion for any film. I look forward when a DVD says that it includes an essay by Scorsese (his introduction to Michel Ciment's Kubrick book particularly).
