I can't believe some box office analists (leesmovieinfo) had Saw 2 pegged at 11 million. This is great news.

Saw's probably going to break $30 million. Wow.

Now they can rush Saw III into theaters next Halloween, completely ignoring the need for a decent script and all that annoying stuff, just like they did last time.

Doom: KEE-RASH!
Ouch for Weather Man. I think the marketing didn't capture the real essence of the film. It also probably should've kept its original opening date back in the spring.
I'm hoping for a solid hold for Dreamer. An assemblage of pre-pubsescent girls were in full force yesterday afternoon.

I knew it was capable of such a huge number. I was hesitant to officially predict $30+ million because of personal bias, but it looks like I was right. Holy shit what a number.
Bring back Wan for SAW III!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1111

Damn, Saw II just owned every other movie in the top 10.

So, did you actually see Saw II, or are you just talking out of your ass?
EDIT:
Ooh, a 3/10. Between this and The Devil's Rejects, I think we can safely assume horror and Madsen just don't mix.

I bet I like horror at least as much as you do, if not more. Did you even read my post? Maybe you should before you start talking out of your ass, which is exactly what you are doing. How in the hell does not liking two awful horror movies mean that I don't like horror? Give me a fucking break. I knew somebody was going to start some shit.

I know you didn't like the movie. You posted your thoughts in the official thread and that's fine, I respect that. But is a cheap shot like that really necessary here?

Your ratings always start the shit.

That is 100% bullshit. I don't start anything. My reviews are always extremely reasonable, detailed and explained well. I don't just say, "That was fucking awful," and leave it at that. I provide reasons. And then someone always comes along and gets pissed off and takes a shot at me. That is not my fault.

If you are worried about cheap shots, and not just looking to argue with someone who didn't like the movie, then tell ANTBond007 to stop taking cheap shots at me. Or is it OK with you because he took a cheap shot at someone who didn't like the movie? And what I said isn't even a cheap shot. It is a legitimate concern, that they will rush it into theaters without taking the time to properly develop it.

LOL , Madsen embroiled in another arguement? Say it isn't so :D Anyway I have to say he didn't do shit wrong in this thread..they probably will rush the next sequel to the theaters next year at the expense of some quality. That doesn't mean I don't like SAW 1 or 2 but it normally takes a few years for a good script to be written and talented actors/producers to be made available. I will see it tomorrow and then give a hopefully reasonable opinion on the movie.

I defended the movie because I like the movie. I didn't defend you because...
Just kidding. I figured you could handle that comment because it was directed at you. Like I said, I just felt that your comment was uncalled for and out of place here.
In this thread, which is not about the Saw II at all, let alone the film being rushed or a possible sequel being made, your comment is a cheap shot. This thread is about box office figures, not your "legitimate concern" for the future of the Saw franchise.

I am very dissapointed with the little numbers I see Weather Man with.... I do believe that it was one of the 3 best films i have seen this year, i think this movie will find it's following in good time... least i hope so

But his comment isn't out of line? It is OK for him to take a cheap shot at me in this thread? How does that work exactly?

Yes, I agree. I still can't understand why my dad hated the film.
Anyway, I just wanted to say how beautiful the film was shot. Gotta love Chicago.
I also saw prime today, I doubt it will be a hit and it wasn't that good

His comment, regardless of whether or not I think it was out of line or not (which it probably was), was not directed at me. Thus, I did not feel the need to correct him, reprimand him, or call him on it. You on the other hand, made a disparaging remark about a movie I happened to enjoy. I felt the remark was out of place, and I called you on it. That's all.
If you'd like to continue this, feel free to drop me a PM. Thanks for understanding.

Yeah other than Saw II, quite a slow weekend. Probably going to be down from last year. Not that they are all an easy sell, but I don't think the marketing is very good on some of these movies. Regardless of quality, they don't look like anything that's worth rushing out to see.

I hope III comes out next Halloween, II was fantastic.
I think your statement "completely ignoring the need for a decent script and all that annoying stuff, just like they did last time." is a matter of opinion since most horror fans are digging Saw II and want to see a Saw III. And plus didn't you hate Saw? What was the point of seeing Saw II? Did you expect it to be better?

I wanted to see a horror movie on Halloween weekend in a theater, and it was the only option. And I'm always hopeful that I'll be pleasantly surprised. I love the genre and want every horror movie I see to be good. I know I can seem harsh, but it's because I care.

I understand, you wanted to see a Horror movie on Halloween weekend.
When it comes to sequel to a movie you hated, don't ever expect anything better. Pretty much only fans would enjoy it.
I hated The Matrix, and when reloaded was released in theaters, i didn't want to see it. When it came out on DVD my friend said it was better then the original and i was being unfair. I watched it and fucking hated it.
Saw II was made for those people who loved Saw. Saw II is the best rushed fimed sequel i've ever seen (for examples of rushed sequels read arrow's review) and the best Halloween weekend review i've seen in awhile.
So beware of Saw III when it comes out Halloween 2006, it's a fan movie.

What about the Halloween, Friday the 13th and Nightmare on Elm Street series? I am a fan of all three, but I think there are good sequels and bad sequels. Not to mention the Hellraiser and TCM series as well. And some people prefer Saw II to Saw, so it's not entirely unreasonable to expect or hope for a better movie. When 2012 rolls around, and they're on Saw 9, I'm sure that there will be at least a few good ones in there. :)

Personally, I'm not too surprised about the less than stellar turn outs for Weather Man and Zorro. The only ads for WM I've seen have been online and Zorro just seems completely unecessary. Why has it been so hard for studios to create buzz for their films lately?
MadsenOMC

Weather Man was delayed and dumped, and I don't think all that many people still cared about a Zorro movie. Seven years is a long time. Banderas peaked a long time ago, Hopkins isn't in it and Zeta-Jones isn't box office on her own.

In spite of all that, they expected families to flock to it. And that just didn't happen. It's a shame, because the film looks like fun. I'll probably see it tomorrow for a matinee.
Another note on Friday's numbers- I believe Doom actually made less on Friday than it did on Thursday. Ouch.
EDIT: I misread the numbers. I'm wrong about Doom.
