Ok, you're sitting in the theater, waiting for the crappy chick flick movie that your girlfriend dragged you to, and you have to sit through the shitty previews for other awful chick flicks that you're most likely going to have to see as well. Is it me, or are there only 2 or 3 voiceover guys for every preview ever created in the past couple of years? Every preview has the same annoying guy who tries to sound like this is the greatest movie ever.

"Kim was a waitress, who got lousy tips and was sexually harassed by her boss, until one day, an unsuspecting lawyer ate at her restaurant, and her world was turned...upside down!! Be prepared, for the comedy event of the season!!"

Every movie is either the best of the season, year, month, hour or created by some director who made other crappy movies you dont care about.

I swear, in every preview the guy says either upside down, turned around, or some shit like that. I hate that guy. His voice just pisses me off. He needs to die.

Don't be talking bad about my man Don LaFontaine, "The King of Movie Trailers" or "The Voice of God" as some call him!

He's done over 4000 movie trailers and does like 60 promos a week.

Or at least know your enemy. :)

This guy sounds cool, but the guy I'm talking about does most of the comedies/kids movies. I believe the last one I remember was Just like heaven. Also, I worked in a blockbuster and I always got annoyed when he came on for "Ice Princess." Thats the guy I hate. Are we talking about the same person?

Pretty sure thats the guy.

If it's the same guy I'm thinking of, I've always hated his particular voice over for Raising Helen: "Now, she must choose between the life she's always loved, and the new loves of her life." So sickeningly saccharine and nauseating. I hate that guy.

Are you talking about the guy who does the voiceovers for pretty much all Disney movies?

No. Go here, and you'll know who I'm talking about.

It IS the same guy --- He did the trailer for DADDY DAY CARE, and CHEAPER BY THE DOZEN too

He has a few different voices he uses, but I just checked out those trailers, and he used the "Ice Princess" voice.

So... You could easily have a Love/Hate relationship with this guy, because you seem to dig his "deeper voiced" stuff.

Check out his website, it has links to some trailers, and lots of clips you can listen too -- the website is also sort of funny (I think unintentionally...) but be forewarned, the main page is like 3megs, but the Flash does list a bunch of movies he's done (Godfather, Fatal Attraction, Terminator... No mention of Ice Princess, go figure....)

The best part about the site, and I'm pretty sure this was done to be intentionally funny --- On the trailers section, it lists the trailers and says something like "LISTEN NOW" but it has both audio and video.

Also - when you click to navigate, DON F. says the area of the board you are going to with his VoG. "TRAILERS!"

Hey - Lemmy. Have you ever seen the trailer for Jerry Seinfeld's COMEDIAN? It may give you more love for the guy - it did for me.

UPDATE: My bad, actually that guy is Hal Douglas, who sounds just like LaFontaine. DOUGLAS claims to be the first VO guy to use the "In a world..." bit.

The worst voice-over guy is the one who does them for the WB and movies directed by James L. Brooks.

I can mimic his voice to the tee.

I always cringe when the voice over says "NAME" has it all! Except for BLANK.

Case in point... the new Ryan Reynolds movie "Just Friends."

I don't the VO guy writes the stuff for the teasers. It's just the way movies are marketed and advertised.

"Don't hate the player, hate the game."

Actually, Hal Douglas credits himself for coming up with the line "In a world..." --- Says he made it up, and was the first to use it.

Which is kind of funny, given the first thing he tries to say in the COMEDIAN trailer.

When the regular trailer voice guys pass on, Pablo Francisco should replace 'em all.

In a world of online movie gossip and rumor, Lemmywinks had it all. The perfect job ("Good job Lemmywinks!"). The perfect family ("You're great, I love you so much!"). But then he went to see a movie - and a past he thought he had buried came back in the form of Movie Trailer Guy ("Hello, Lemmywinks. Did you miss me?").

Now, he has to chose what path to take to make everything right ("Let's finish this!").

Summer 2006.

HAHA. That was great. Oh, and yes, Pablo should replace him for the movie "LITTLE TORTILLA BOY."

I personally love the previews for movies I want to see. I go to the theater at least fifteen minutes prior to the strating time just to see them. It's nothing like watching them on the Internet, in the good way. Yeah, the voiceover dude can be annoying, but for me the trailers overpower that detail.

I'm glad that not all trailers have the VO now. I love trailers that just have the words coming up on the screen or let the cuts from the movie tell what its about. But I fucking hate the guy who does kids movies and comedies. FUCKING HATE HIM!

But whats worse is when you see a terrific trailer that has epic music and scenes fading in and out and it gets right to the end and that adreneline-filled voice comes over the top and says:

"Rated PG-13!!!!"

Always wrecks a good trailer.
