What do yall feel about the Ultimate Fighting Championship as a sport? Personally, I was pretty shocked and amazed when I first viewed an Ultimate fighting match. I thought it was barbarick, but at the same time I liked it because I'm a fight fan.

I, like a few others, have gained the opinion that these are the toughest fighters in the world. I've even wondered how fighters like Mike Tyson or George Foreman would have fared in these competitions. However, after watching the last match in which boxer-wrestler Rashad Evans dominated my opinion on the skill level of these fighters compared to other combat sports has some what dwindled.

Thats exactly how I felt about it initially. I thought it was the most vicous and entertaining combat sport I'd ever seen. After a while though, once I had become desensitised to it, I realised that most of the time it's pretty boring. If they go to the ground early on they can stay there for the whole fight. If I wanted to watch 2 men in underpants hugging each other for half an hour I'd flick over to WWF or something.

As far as combat sports go, boxing is my #1. They (the boxers) are the greatest athletes not just in combat sports, but in any sports. I'd back any top pro boxer over a UFC fighter any day of the week. Thats not to say that UFC fighters aren't talented. They're fit and tough and would certainly kick the shit out of me! Its just that in the world of fight sports, there is much better on offer. The K-1 kickboxing tournament is pretty good too.

A Boxers dvd/magazine collection came out a few months ago(over here anyway). Its mostly been classic fights so far: Ali, Marciano, Frazier, Duran, LaMotta etc. Its pretty good. Well more entertaining than UFC fights.

I don't care about it. I was very disappointed the first time I watched the UFC.

I couldn't agree more. The ground game is no fun to watch at all. It may be nice to watch for those that are into the tactics and the different manuevers, ie wrestling geeks, but it certainly isn't any eye candy for regular fans.

And about the boxing DVD, I'll have to keep an eye out for that, thanks.
