I just saw A Clockwork Orange for the first time tonight, and was absolutely blown away by it. What a wonderful movie! It is definitely going on my top 100 list.

What are your thoughts on the movie?

A perfect movie in every way. And I'm not a big fan of movies that show the bad guy get away with it, but this film did a good job of predicting future culture.

i'm sorry i just did'nt get it,it was far too arty and pretentious for its own good style over substance if you ask me.
but you people enjoyed it and thats what movies are all about different things to different people.

I think it's a masterpiece that a lot of people find difficult to watch because of its graphic content.

It's an excellent vision of the future. (Remember the movie WAS made in 1971 and the book several years earlier)

I wouldn't call it pretentious...

That is a description best kept for the likes of Vanilla Sky
I rather despised the cliche "I've got Radiohead AND Bob Dylan in my record collection!" soundtrack and numorous banal pop-culture referances throughout!

I personally love A Clockwork Orange...It is humorous, imaginative, shocking, visually stunning, visceral, well-acted, beautifully written and much much more!

Anthony Burgess' original novel is still highly relevant within modern society, even to this very day!

I also strongly feel that the book is very much neglected in favour of the film!
Kubricks cinematic interpretation is amazing...but I feel the novel should be read by all!

The invention of the ficticious language of Nadsat is absolute genius!

I mean come on...a cross-synchronisation of Salfordian, Russian, Baby-Language and Shakespearean text! You've got to at least give credit to his extraordinary imagination!

And the creator is a fellow Salfordian Mr Calf...

I do see your point regarding Style over substance...but I would take the standpoint that this unique film is both highly stylish and dripping with substance!

Anyhoo...

Kubrick banned it "over there" because of shitheads who were imitating the violence in the film.
