The hilarious story of what happens when the U.S. Government sends comedian Albert Brooks to India and Pakistan to find out what makes the over 300 million Muslims in the region laugh. Brooks, accompanied by two state department handlers and his trusted assistant, goes on a journey that takes him from a concert stage in New Delhi, to the Taj Mahal, to a secret location in the mountains of Pakistan.

In Theatres: January 20th, 2006

I have to say the premise looks interesting, but it tends to be the premise that ends up being better than the actual picture.

Anyway, I'm keeping my eye on this one. . . . Anybody else?

I don't find any of Albert Brooks' alleged comedies that funny in the first place. The trailer for this doesn't change my mind.

I've never even heard of him...he looks like a douche, screw him.

I'm stunned the Busheviks didn't send Carrot Top. He seems more Dubya's speed.

Every time I see Schwarzenegger I remember an old routine (© 1983) of Albert's about Arnold playing FDR in a movie, how utterly absurd the idea of him in a leadership position would be. :(

Sometimes I think Albert's a little more plugged in than the rest of us.

If he's also in New Delhi shouldn't it be Looking for Comedy in the Hindu and Muslim Worlds?

I think the concept is funny, but the trailer just scared me. Too many jokes about how common it is for Muslims to either chop people's arms off or about how all common Muslim boys take explosives class at school, too many jokes about how there IS no humor in the Muslim world (absolute bullshit -- half my family is from the Muslim world, and they laugh at the same stuff we do).

Honestly? The trailer felt borderline racist to me. I hope the movie isn't.

I saw the trailer:

Alber Brooks "Why don't Muslims celebrate Halloween? Because someone took away their candhi !"

Now that is awkward for you.
