CHARLTON HESTON
1. BEN-HUR
2. Taylor in PLANET OF THE APES
3. Moses in THE TEN COMMANDMENTS
4. John the Baptist in THE GREATEST STORY EVER TOLD
5. Mike Vargas in TOUCH OF EVIL
6. Robert Neville in THE OMEGA MAN
7. Det. Robert Thorn in SOYLENT GREEN
8. Christopher Leiningen in THE NAKED JUNGLE
9. Boake Tackman in RUBY GENTRY
10. Stewart Graff in EARTHQUAKE

So he's the head honcho of the NRA? As an actor, he's been good, bad, and even won an Oscar (see #1). Heston was the sci-fi/action/thriller star of the early 70's when I was growing up. I especially love the APES/SOYLENT/OMEGA/EARTHQUAKE foursome. He was also great in two air-disaster flicks from that era: SKYJACKED and AIRPORT '75, and I loved his cameos in the more recent APES remake and TRUE LIES.

Say what you want about his politics, but Charlton Heston has been a formidable screen presence for several decades.

PLANET OF THE APES
BEN HUR
and THE OMEGA MAN

...pretty much in that order. I'd never regard "ol' Chuck" as a great actor but like, say, Clint Eastwood, James Woods and Christopher Lee, he sure commands a very strong screen presence...
