A new type of DVD rant.

What the fuck is up with the shrink wrapping on some DVD's? I bought 'Solaris' today for $3.44 at Wal-Mart, and when I took the shrink wrap off to open it up, it stuck to the side of the DVD instead of coming off and now when its on my shelf, instead of seeing the title of the movie I see shiny little pieces of plastic stuck all over the side where the title of the movie is.

It's not the first time its happened either. Its like whoever shrink wraps these DVD's just absolutely hates their job so they take the hot air gun they use to shrink the stuff and just leave it on the side of the DVD like an iron until the shrink wraps just melts into the plastic covering of the DVD and then says "YEAH! GOOD LUCK GETTING THAT OFF O THERE YA FUCKER!"

I will never understand why stuff just cant be wrapped good enough to seal it, and so when you open it everything comes off nice and clean and the case and everything looks perfect. People like me take great pride in their collections and its like these DVD companies say "You want this movie for your prized collection? You do? Well, here, its on sale, go ahead buy it. Yeah, you're happy you bought it arent you? WELL NOW YOUR COVER IS GONNA BE ALL FUCKED UP BITCH! WHATS IT GONNA LOOK LIKE IN YOUR COLLECTION NOW?! HUH?! YOUR FRIENDS ARE GONNA LAUGH AT YOU AND YOUR STUPID DVD COLLECTION! JUST GIVE US THE MONEY FOR THE MOVIE AND HAVE A NICE FUCKING DAY LOSER!"

I especially hate it when those fucking stickers dont come off and leave an ever so unatractive smear of gooy goo and little bits of paper! That never comes off!

Oh when I used to buy DVD's that would happen all the damn time. Drove me insane.

I hate it when I rip the plastic off, and it tears a piece of the packaging (don't know why), leaving small white splotches.

ive had this happen a couple ot times but ive generally managed to get off the strip of plastic or at least to the point where its not very obvious

Two ways to get rid of it -- really. Option one (this will only work for those rare metal or hard plastic cases) is to take a dry, normal tissue, put your finger into it to guide it and rub briskly where the leftover stickiness is. This is more generally used for taking stickers off wood or metal (like furniture), but it might work. Otherwise, take a blow dryer and heat up the sticky residue and wipe it away with a towel or just your thumb (but don't burn yourself). This will work. If the DVD case has that plastic sheet where the cover art slides into, be careful not to melt that, but it can be done. And it really does work if done right.

I feel like a book now. Having to do that work sucks. The worst is when you purchase a used DVD and it has all kinds of stickers on it.

YES! I hate this shit. I do understand the concept of a shrink wrap -- but who decided the fucking box had to be shrink-wrapped so tight it could survive a nuclear explosion and not come off without a struggle?

I hate having to decide between leaving the box half-shrink wrapped on my DVD stand, or having to scratch the box itself in trying to get the fucking wrap off of it.

I recently bought the movie High Tension and it was shrink-wrapped so harrd I scratched the actual fucking cover, and now when I find the people the shrink wrapped this movie this way I am going to stomp their ass. YOU HEAR ME MOTHERFUCKERS, YALL KNOW WHO YOU ARE I'M GOING TO FUCK YOU UP REAL BAD. Oh God! You people are too funny! I agree with everything you guys just said! I especially hate it when I try to get the damn stickers off the top, side, and bottom and end up screwing up the plastic. I fucking hate that! It makes me sad. Those SECURITY ENCLOSED DEVICE stickers are a pain in the booty, but I worked out a method to peel them off without a hitch. Smoooooth:cool:
