Well your'e wondering why i just wrote down the name of 56 movies but when there is a way there is a reason. These are movies that interest me most and i am definitely most eager to buy. But i do not wan to spoil myself so if i concentrate on what to get the rest of this year i would like it to be aroun 10 - 20 titles. So i would like it if you guys would help me pick by voting and saying what your favorite films are from these written down. You can write around 10 - 20 as i said and i would really aprrecitae everyone's involvement. BTW i am 12 so if there are some films here that might be too boring, too confusing, or too violent for me then don't put them on your list no matter what you think about them. Thank you for your cooperation... P.S. does saying " thank you for your cooperation " make me sound like a sucker?

FIELD OF DREAMS
BAND OF BROTHERS
APOCALYPSE NOW
SAVING PRIVATE RYAN
ONE FLEW OVER THE CUCKOO'S NEST

Some are confusing, some are complex, some are tough. But you're much better getting 2001 or The Seventh Seal and not getting it the first time around than you are buying shit like K-Pax or Random Hearts. Those are a good mix of great films from all genres and time periods.

BREAKFAST AT TIFFANY’S
One of my top 10 films and the movie that launched my Audrey Hepburn obsession
INDIANA JONES TRILOGY BOX SET
3 of the most perfect adventure films ever made
SCHINDLERS LIST
Upsetting, but brilliant
THE GODFATHER TRILOGY BOX SET
Two solid gold classics and an underrated third part
FULL METAL JACKET
A Film of two halves, the first is better than the second but it's worth seeing.
KING KONG (1933)
Still one of the world's great monster movies 72 years on, the remake is shit, he said, putting it mildly.
FRANKENSTEIN/BRIDE OF FRANKENSTEIN
As good as you've heard, and then some.
THE GOONIES
One of my favourites from my childhood and it still holds up.
THE PHILADELPHIA STORY
Grant, Hepburn, Stewart, Cukor. It's sublime.
THE AFRICAN QUEEN
Thrilling and funny with two great performances.
MY FAIR LADY
Overlong but fun and with an excellent pair of performances from Rex Harrison and Audrey Hepburn
SERPICO
One of the best cop movies ever made, and one of Pacino's best performances
ONCE UPON A TIME IN AMERICA
Lengthy but hugely rewarding
M
Brilliant and still chilling serial killer thriller, perhaps the first of its kind.
PULP FICTION
Overrated to be sure but if you've never seen it you should

I think those would be your best bets. All are fantastic and must owns for film fans. Those are just from the list, I would even add Casablanca, Shawshank, Jaws, Raging Bull, American Beauty, and Once Upon a Time in the West. And I wouldn't worry about films being boring, challenging, or violent. The fact that you would put some movies like Potemkin, M, and the Seventh Seal shows that the boring and challenging parts don't apply to you. Most people I know would not have even heard of these films. And violence in films is overrated. If you are stable enough to know the difference between films and real life, then you're going to be fine.

I know what you mean about violence but i'm the kind who would just get nautious. BTW I own casablanca and jaws (thanks for recommending those because theyr'e great movies and on my top ten list and if i haven't seen them and listened to you and bought them i'd apreeciate it knowing how special they are), shawshank is on the list, once upon a time in america i'll think of and my parents have a thing against the violence of american beauty because they don't understand the art of a movie and i'll never get raging bull for a few years atleast.

A good list you got there, Bogey, I like most of the films here and would give my highest possible recommendations especially to the following films:
SINGIN’ IN THE RAIN
It has a reputation for being the greatest movie musical ever made, and while it's not my favorite of its genre (that title would go to 'Swing Time'), it's certainly a mesmerizing, brilliant film that never fails to put a smile on my face.
SCHINDLERS LIST
Just. See. It. It's an emotionally shattering experience you'll never forget.
CITIZEN KANE
Arguably the most influential film back in its days and still one of the greatest movies there is, with an engrossing story that's still new & fresh and a theme still relevant and universal.
THE GODFATHER TRILOGY BOX SET
Parts 1 & 2 are classic and MUST sees for any film buff. The third is also very good in its own right.
GONE WITH THE WIND
One of those classics that DEFINES 'epic'.
REBECCA
The greatest Hitchcock thriller after 'Vertigo', a fantastic mystery.
NOTORIOUS
One of the most 'romantic' movies ever made with an 'on-the-edge-of-your-seat' ending. The chemistry between Bergman and Grant is one of the best to be seen on film.
2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY
Kubrick's masterpiece, and that's saying a LOT.
DR. STRANGEGLOVE
A terrific, funny, and informative satire.
THE MANCHURIAN CANDIDATE ( ORIGINAL)
Suspense filled political thriller with THE single greatest climax ever to be seen on film.
THE AFRICAN QUEEN
Classic John Huston adventure story with a warm, heartfelt romance. Bogart has never been more entertaining to watch.
PULP FICTION
Basically what SAI said.
ONE FLEW OVER COOKOO’S NEST
A bit of a downer, but a highly rewarding experience.
I'd also add the following:
PARIS, TEXAS
BRINGING UP BABY
SWING TIME
OUT OF THE PAST
THE WOMEN
WHITE HEAT

you mentioned you were 12 years old. i'm surprised to see someone your age so interested in the movies on this list. age is a factor though. it's not so much that you can't handle some of the material, but that you can't fully understand or appreciate it. believe me, i'm 19 and i still have trouble appreciating and understanding certain films.
but to start, if you're 12 and haven't seen "the goonies" or "mary poppins", then i suggest you watch them. don't buy them, but see them. and "bull durham" is far superior to "field of dreams" in terms of kevin costner baseball flicks. it's a different kind of movie, more romantic comedy, but if you like baseball then you should love it. it's in my top 5.
now, onto your list.

and let me just say that i don't believe in buying movies before you've seen them. i think you should rent any movie you haven't seen before you buy it instead of asking others their opinion on it. i can't tell you the number of times i've hated a movie that all my friends liked and vice versa. just a bit of advice.

I'd just like to add that you shouldn't let us dictate what movies you are going to buy. Now I know you may love all the movies listed equally and its a tough decision to make, we've all been there, countless times, but you might want to rewatch some to see which you'd prefer more than others.
It seems as though you're having some sort of tournament of movies until you get the list down to 10 or 20 and those will be the movies you'll buy. Don't let us choose your movies for you because we dont know your taste. Most of these are must haves but you may not like a lot of them if you havent seen them.
Just thought I'd throw that out there, I'm not trying to be a douchebag, sorry if I came off that way.

I know but I'm the worst descision maker in the world and i don't know but i believe you guys got taste. I'm not taking my freedom of choice away or anything. I'm not even going to get exactly what ever wins. Some i know i want to wait to see so i can appreciate them and some i might not even want at all. Some i have even saw. but this is so i can see some peoples opinions and make sure if mine are similiar or different... Let's just call it half helping. and by the way don't act as if i don't know what a douchebag is;)
