Has anyone seen this movie!? I've heard it's been recently released on DVD but I can't find it anywhere here--I guess I will have to order it online because I live in Arkansas.

Anyway--I absolutely love this film and would recommend it to any Fantasy/Musical/Anime fans. This is not your typical "Jack and the Beanstalk" story. There is drug content and heavy themes as well, such as philosophical questions on free-will and why we all feel like we're so alone in the world looking at everyone else happily through an outsiders' standpoint. The music in this film is give or take. Some is briliiantly dark and eerie, whilst others sound very disney rip-off ish. It was almost as if they felt like they had to throw in 'some' stuff for the kiddies. The animation is dated but it's 70's. Give em a break.

Anywho--I recommend this film. It was made in 1974 and then released in 1976 in theatres in America for a short release. It holds to date as my fave. animated film of the 70's and one of my top 3 fav animate films of all time, along with Spirited Away (2002) and Grave of the Fireflies (1988).
