I know that there have been several rants about this very topic, but now it's my turn to vent. I usually don't go to the cinema anymore because of the constant lack of consideration I encounter but last night a friend of mine convinced me to attend a premiere showing of the fantastic remake of King Kong. We got there about fifteen minutes early and picked out some good seats that were located in the middle of the theater and not too close to the screen.
The film started and after the previews they showed a message on the screen to show consideration to your fellow movie patron by not talking and turning off your cell phone. But sure enough as soon as the action sequences started up in the film people behind us started talking and shouting in excitement. Not only that but several folks had elected to bring their bratty snot nosed rugrats with them. WTF were they thinking?! King Kong has an over 3 hour running time and I don't know a five year old on the planet that has an attention span that long! Needless to say we were also often disturbed by small children screaming inanely like little retards. Then there was the several other inconsiderate pricks who didn't feel like they had to turn off their cell phones which rang incessantly throughout the entire movie!
Now I don't mind when people get into a good film but King Kong is chock filled with extensive action sequences and these fuckin douches kept screaming like idiots throughout the majority of the movie. Whenever the momentum died down the rude sons of bitches would continue to ramble on incessantly. The problem was that it wasn't just one group but almost everyone in the theater seated behind us. So I couldn't just go tell the usher who was disturbing us because it was almost EVERYBODY THERE! As a result I am now considering forgoing the cinema altogether which as a film fan is something that kills me. Unfortunately since the theater owners seemingly won't do anything about this problem that's what it's come to.
I seem to remember a time when people were more considerate of others at the cinema. When exactly did manners go the way of the dinosaurs?
That EXACT same thing happened to me, when I saw Red Eye.
(SPOILERS FOR RED EYE)
The entire audience was filled with mostly screaming 14 year old girls, who giggled and laughed EVERY TIME Cillian Murphy was on screen, let alone doing anything funny.
Then when Rachel McAdams stabs him in the throat and he talks in a kind of croaky voice, it was like a fucking explosion - literally every single person in the mostly full, 350 seat theater burst out laughing, and not just for 1 or 2 minutes....FOR THE REST OF THE ENTIRE FUCKING FILM!!!!
I'm serious, the whole way through the finale from that point on, every single person was either telling their friends "what was going to happen next", laughing, screaming every time Cillian jumped out from behind a door/table/etc, and generally making the blood vessels in my forehead burst.
(END SPOILERS)
So yeah, I can understand what you mean, man. :-)

aside from Star Wars episode 3 i havent attended a film on the day it was released unless its an 18 for this reason and even that hasnt worked sometimes...most of the time though i wait until the last week or two of its cinema release so theres less chance of annoying people doing this or bringing their stupid kids with them

I usually go to the cinema early on my day off work (on a money-Friday) just so there will hardly be anyone in the cinema. I Won't be seeing King Kong any time soon because I know no one will shut the fuck up.
There was a riot in a cinema here in Dublin a few weeks back during Flight Plan. One guy kept talking loudly, someone else told him to shut up, he refused, other guy said if he didn't shut up he'd get an ass kicking. Guy still didn't shut up, both people started fighting in the middle of the cinema, brawling with each other, others joined in, one big fight, the movie had to be stopped and police called in.

The last time I went to a move theater to see a movie (it was a scary film but it was months ago so i cant even remember) there was about oh, 5 or 6 youngins. Kinda loud. I was annoyed but im extremely patient
UNTIL THEY STARTED CHASING EACH OTEHR AROUND THE THEATER AND TRYING TO SNEAK UP BEHIND THE GIRLS AND SCARING THEM, OF COURSE THEY FUCKING SCREAM FOR 20 SECONDS EACH TIME.
That was my very last theater going experiene. Possibly ever.

The reason the movie theaters are full of inconsiderate assholes is because the world is full of inconsiderate assholes.

Ill agree with that. Now I work at a movie theater as a manager and I have to say that I truly, honestly think that half of the people that come in there are Idiots. I agree with you.... I deal day in and day out with idiots. lol funny since when we had "40 Yr. Old Virgin" an old couple came in to watch it during the day, when no one else was hardly there, and then came out an hour into the movie screaming at me that they wanted their money back, or passes because the movie was disgusting. I told the lady no and she began to ask me why. When I told her that it wasnt my fault she chose the movie her 70 yr old husband began to ask me my thoughts on the movie. I told him I thought it was hilarious and a good movie. This fucking idiot begins to tell me that I wasnt brought up right, if I liked this movie....LOL I looked at him through his thick ass glasses and said I was brought up just fine sir, and smart enough to read into a movie before I watch it. Not only that sir but I also look at what its rated and why.... And the funny thing was I was standing right next to the mylar with the rating of that movie in big letters.lol fucking idiots.

The exact same thing was going on when I saw King Kong on Wednesday. THE EXACT SAME THING. I think the only difference was that I went to a matinee and there couldn't have been more than 20-25 people in this theater.
But still, there was a guy talking on a cell phone IN A NORMAL VOICE. It's the first time (that I can remember anyway) where I told a guy in a movie theater to shut up. Those exact words - SHUT UP!!
There was two kids crying every now and again - one them spreading the wealth by going up and down the stairs.
I'm thinking that there needs to be some kind of movie employee in each theater - or one floating from theater to theater and if they hear or see any semblance of noise or disturbance to kick out the bastards who are causing the commotion.
You know, it's ironic as hell - when I went to go see Walk the Line, the theater was packed to the gills. Not a peep from anybody; really enjoyable movie. I go to a matinee where there are only a handful of people and they seem to forget that you're supposed to shut the fuck up. Amazing. Luckily, the annoying people didn't take away what I got out of King Kong. Still loved the movie. I will watch the movie again - no doubt.

People are assholes, it's true.
And when I went to see Walk the Line, I got the same thing. Nice and quiet, no screaming children or talking dick heads.
Humanity has a long way to progress, my friends.
