Here in Canada we are not graced with ESPN so I am not familiar with most of their SportsCenter cast aside from Dan Patrick and Stuart Scott but I am familiar with TSN, The Score and Sportsnet as well as the specialty shows like PTI, Rome Is Burning and The Sports Reporters. What I want to know is who you like, who you don't like and who you'd like to see burn, here's my list:

Who I like:

TSN
Jay Onrait - probably the best Sportscenter guy they have right now, hilarious, knows his stuff and is always the best part of the duo.

Blake Price - I think I'm alone here, most people I talk to are either ambivalent or just don't like him. I think he's bright and has a dry humour about him.

Darren Dutchysen - Dutch has been quality forever, especially when he and Rod Smith were the ones on the desk at midnight. The makeup jokes were key and does anyone remember the "Roddsky and Dutch" commercial for Sportscenter a few years back? GOLD!

Rod Smith - Just as good as Dutch, but neither one has the same chemistry with the others on the show.

James Duthie - Another funny guy who is pretty much delegated to NHL on TSN now, not a bad thing but I'd like to see him back on Sportscenter.

Sportsnet

Darren Millard - Only guy on Sportsnet that I never dislike. He just seems to love what he's doing and he does it well.

Jody Vance - Best female sports reporter I have seen on television, puts Jennifer Hedger to shame.

TheScore

Ryan Paton - Much like Sportsnet, The Score is pretty useless but at least Paton is on in the afternoon more often than most.

Tim McAleef - This might be pushing it...he gets on my nerves occasionally but he's still better than the rest.

ESPN

Wilbon and Kornheiser are the two-headed monster that happen to be my favourite guys on sports television. Sure, they might go overboard and sometimes irritating but they're still fantastic in my opinion. PTI is good television.

Jim Rome - always have been a fan, he says what he means and doesn't care what anyone else thinks, probably why so many people hate him.

Who I hate:

TSN

Jennifer Hedger is the worst thing ever. I once saw an interview where she admitted to not knowing a thing about sports and that without the teleprompter she would be lost. I would do her job with more enthusiasm and knowledge...get her out of there, she's only there because she won that reality show.

Sportsnet

Ugh, where do I begin? Let's start with Jason Portuondo. This squeaky voiced midget is awful. If I turn on Sportscentral and he's there I turn the channel in disgust. There's only one guy worse than him on this channel...

Jim Lang - fuck him

Peter Loubardias - "He SKEEEEEEOOORES" Fuck this guy twice, never watch any game he calls and never watch a single program he is a part of.

TheScore

Pretty much everyone other than Paton and McAleef. Sansone is only okay sometimes...and Sid Seixero is a tool using Ron Burgundy's send off as his own...argh.

ESPN

Here's a big fuck you to the entire Sunday Night Football crew...god damn all three of you especially Paul Maguire, what a useless turd, even Joe Theisman looks good compared to him (but only him). John Madden is a king compared to these douches, and actually Madden is still a guilty pleasure of mine.

In case you were wondering I think Al Michaels calls the best football game on the planet, and I think Joe Buck is quite solid at Baseball (fuck Joe Morgan!). What do you guys think?

Some Sunday Night Football guys are quite good, espically Sterling Sharpe. So.......

Who I like:
Sterling Sharpe- I love the guys commentary. He blows Maguire and Theisman out of the water, and he gives actual effort to his commentating.

Wilbon and Kornheiser- always fun to watch the guys banter. And they actually have good points most of the time, which is always interesting.

Who I hate:

Stephen A. Smith- Oh god. How he has his own show is beyond me. The man is an absolutely horrible commentator to listen to and all he does is scream at the TV.

Shannon Sharpe- A moron. He babbles incoherently and never knows what the hell he's talking about. And he can't coordinate his sentences very well.

Michael Irvin- See Shannon Sharpe, but not as dumb.

I'll update it as I think of more, but right now that's all I have.

Just a minor quibble, because I despise both of them, but Michael Irvin is considerably dumber than Shannon Sharpe. Sharpe is an obnoxious dick who can't talk to save his life, but he's not really stupid, as such.

Irvin is in constant danger of dying because he forgot to breathe. He may in fact be the single stupidest man on the planet Earth.

I almost forgot about Boomer Esiason before you guys mentioned him. Do you remember him on Monday Night Football? Jesus, it was worse than Dennis Miller! Marino looks like he wants to strangle him every Sunday on the NFL Today.

I like Greg Gumbel and all...but why did they toss Jim Nantz back out into live coverage instead of the studio show, I tought he did a great job.

Troy Aikman is far better than I would have ever expected. He's smart, observant, he sees things at full speed (the QB training comes in handy) and he's very, very objective. Actually, he's so good he makes Buck better (largely by not playing along when Buck starts his 3rd rate Open Mic Night At The Improv act, unlike McCarver.)

Also that crew is dramatically better as a 2 man set. Any time you subtract that asshole Collinsworth and his monotone conventional wisdom blathering, you have improved things mightily.

Am I the only one who can't stand Stuart Scott? Fuck, I like the show Stump the Schwab, but Scott is so damned irritating cracking what are supposed to be jokes but just not funny at all. What else, is that the afro slang comes out so unnaturally it seems. Whenever he calls someone his "dog" I want to slap him. He kind of reminds me of Dave Chappelle doing his white man new reporter.

Oh he's nowhere near as bad as others like Esiason or Paul Maguire, but just gets on my nerves. I'd take him on Sportscentral over Jim Lang any day of the week too. Goes triple for Jennifer Hedger.

Raiden, Costas is also my favorite. Can't believe I forgot him, easily the best sports guy I know out there. But I HATE Stuart Scott.

I was watching Spengler Cup hockey today and who is calling the action? Phil Romanuk! I remember him on TSN years ago and wondered where he went. He's really good at what he does, energetic and knows his stuff too. The weird thing is, he hasn't aged a day in the eight or so years since I last saw him on tv...he's like Dick Clark!
