Title pretty much says it all.
I like ghost in the shell and always look at the stand alone complex cases in HMV, there's a box set now which is fairly cheep. Is it good? does it carry on from the film? is it even more confusing!!?
any views welcome.

Stand Alone Complex doesnt follow along from the film hence its title, it has the same characters but doesnt relate to the film.
id highly recommend it if you liked the film, i loved the series, its a lot of fun and has some great stories (although its not one bit arc but a lot of smaller stories put together until the last few episodes)
also i didnt find it to be at all confusing

It really confused me at first because I didn't know what gadget did what (I hadn't seen the movie) but then I began liking it more and more. The animation is fantastic and the action scenes kick ass.

I wasn't impressed and I was much dissapointed with the stand alone complex series, I hate the entire style the show was presented in, music, animation, some of the stories as well.

Ergo Proxy is kind of like the spiritual successor to Ghost in the Shell to me..
I haven't watched SAC yet.. I probably will soon.
I did however watch Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence besides tepid reviews and loved it..
Ghost in the Shell was one of the first animes I watched and loved.
The scene where all those people run across the street in the rain under yellow umbrellas, and other images of of the city set to a beautiful score.. really exemplified that anime could be more than boobs. Which is why I got into it in the first place. :D
Point is.. I really dug Innocence, but don't know if I'd like the different direction SAC took (more like the manga from what I've heard? Or maybe that's bogus).. but I guess I'll give it a try at some point.

SAC's sposed to be a kinda prequel to the first movie but it's still stand alone..its sposed to be more like the manga, not sure what it was called now, but it was made inbetween the first and second ones, but didnt get released till' after second, apparently it wasnt completely finished, not to sure. SAC is more like a "cop show" though, but thats comparing it to the movies. I'd also say it would definatly appeal to more people then the movies would, it's less serious and maybe not necesserily more fun, but it does groove to its own funky tune.
