Alec Baldwin playing yet another corporate boss/asshole?

Meh, doesn't look like that much fun.

Its been a while since I've watched a mindless comedy on Christmas. I'll see it.

I've only laughed at a couple of things in the trailers ("We're in a bit of a pickle, dick" and "They repossessed our lawn"). I'll be waiting for the DVD.

No reviews yet? I wouldn't mind a matinee, I dont even know what it's about but I like silly Jim Carrey flicks. They're always harmless.

Uh yeah, I thought it looked okay, but it wasn't that great. It's like a 5 or 6 out of 10. It's nor funny at all and just a very half-assed film that is kind of worth a rental because there are a few funny parts, but not worth going to see at the theaters in my opinion.

perfect way to describe this film half-assed. I know people who worked on this film and there was lots of trouble so Im not surprised. Too abd becuase the movie was ripe for social commentary if someone had actually done s oemthing with it

Well good I have some back up because the film has no good story and is really done pointlessly. No jobs in 2000? Are you kidding me? There were tons of jobs and the whole movie seems a bit far-fetched. The film wasn't socio-political, liberal or conservative, just idiotic.

Funny movie, I loved it. reasonable running time, doesn't drag. No stupid, stale jokes, quick pace.

I loved the part when Dick & Jane rob the guy in black costums with voice changers on. The part when Dick gets carried away and starts messing with the voice changer, doing guitar riffs and noises had me laughing whole time.

I will be seeing this again. This movie was great

and I love the fact that this is the first modern film to be set in the year 2000. THE FIRST!

great ending too!! an awesome clincher for a last laugh!

9/10? bah 10 is good

To me the best jokes were in the beggining after that its just got really forgettable.

which ones were forgettable? (if you still remember them?)

Good Morning Americas Film Critic gave this one a "lump of coal" But yet gave Cheaper By The Dozen 2, A sequel to a remake "2" snowflakes as referred to on the show?

I still wanna see and judge this for myself

It's JIM CARREY DAMN IT!

I went to see this early Wednesday. I watched about an hour of it. After about an hour, I broke one of my teeth on a pocorn kernal. At that time, I left. The first half wasn't funny at all really, only mildly amusing. I hope the second half is better.

So that's the story of how I broke a tooth at Fun With Dick and Jane.

The end.

Me thinks the actual funny stuff is gonna appear on the DVD for this flick. Comapring this one versus the 1977 the new one is very MEH.
Carrey & Leoni's characters is expanded versus the original but this one does not spend time on the slapstick jokes its setting up. I felt it was rushed here and there. There is only one scence involving Leoni that was exactly from the original other than that 99% of the movie has been changed for the better? I say 3/4's for the worst. FWD&J may be a mixed bag for everyone and if you have seen the 1977 version do be prepared to be kinda disappointed.

I went this movie with low expectations. The trailers barely made me laugh, so did this film. For a few extremely funny parts courtesy of Jim Carrey, I didn't become dissapponted. Although, it was sad to see Judd Uptow, the very brillant comedy writer behind this year's suprise hit, The 40 Year Old Virgin write a script where half the jokes either fail miserably, go nowhere, or just loom. I have to say it was not Jim's best work, but he took what he had to work with and tried to make it funny. I have never been impressed by Tea Leoni. She doesn't pick roles that seem to showcase her talents or her abilites. I find her annoying in alot of her movies, particularly Spanglish. She was a big weakness of this movie. What was sad was that this could've been more funny than it was, but it failed to do so.

this movie was pretty lame...there was some funny bits, like the kid speaking spanish and such...and yeah the voiebox bit was humorous, but i can't really believe judd apatow had a part in this...i wonder how much of the script he wrote?

Ditto to the haters. This is easily Jim Carrey's worst comedic performance that I can remember. I knew almost instantaneously it was going to bomb after it started up and the dog got zapped, but I put up with it as I always do when I'm with friends. Alec Baldwin wasn't even a badass, and the Bush swings were from far subtle. And far from funny.

Successful slapstick humor? Ney. Successful Bush swings? Ney; either the audience didnt pick them up because they werent done well, or they did and just found them to be unfunny (my case).

I seldom laughed during this one, or felt anything clever arise.

And some pisspoor editing if I do say so myself. The year is 2000, you can see Gore and Lieberman signs in the background, yet Bush is on tv being the president and all? Um, explain.

I was wondering WHAT was up w/ those posters in the backround? What statement where they TRYIN to project?

I don't know if it was a message, at least I personally don't think so. They were using those posters to establish the mood that the year was 2000..plus you know, there were messages about Bush, you might have noticed the scene where they spoofed Dubya, Alec Baldwin talking about terrible times then going "Now watch this shot"

if you remember, most recently in Fahrenheit 911, there's an archive footage of Bush talking about Terrorism and then going "Now watch this drive"

So I guess the posters were supposed to illustrate a time frame.
And yes the finale joke would have not worked if it was 2005.

yeah i definitely saw the dubya and baldwin connection.
how about at the end with the poor public speaking? uhh uhhh uhhh.

direct attack, but it wasnt funny, clever, or original enough to merit a laugh.

Alec Baldwin, Tea Leoni and Richard Jenkins own this movie. Jim Carrey is good too but he wildly overacts in a few scenes. He tries to return to his physical comedy schtick but he completely over does it especially the scene in the elevator in the begining and later in the movie where he's drunk in a bar.

Those scenes a side though I thought this was a fun movie.

It wasn't Jim Carrey's best movie but I thought it was good and Tea Leoni I thought looked cute in it.

I think I agree with most of you. This definitely wasnt Jim Carrey's best movie, but it wasnt his worst. It was really funny all the way through to me. I laughed out loud at a lot of stuff. The funniest part to me was probably when Dick and the mexicans jumped the fences, and when the tv is being taken away and his son screams, "nooo, not my telemundo!!" Overall, I liked it for what it was.

It was better than I expected overall. First half I didn't find too many laughs and didn't really get into the story but as the movie went on, I got more involved. I just wish they spent more time on the actual robbing parts, it surprised me a little that the entire first half of the movie to get the characters to that stage of desperation.

It, by far, wasn't anywhere near any of the great films I've seen this year but I didn't feel as cheated out of the ticket as I thought I'd be (I went only cause I was meeting up with friends who I hadn't seen in a while).

A 6/10 sounds about right.

This movie was definelty not Jim Carrey's best work. Yea it had a funny plot and story line but something just didnt add up for me. This film had its fair share of Jim Carey moments, such as when he was in the club after having half a beer (HALF A BEER MIND YOU) and acting the way he did, as a puppet. I thought that was pretty good and the ending as well was pretty good. The way he gave out all the mone like that. lol great stuff.... anyways I wasnt happy so much with the editing of the film nor some of the direction. Like I said it had a resonable plot/story line and the runtime fit perfect with it, but it just wasnt the best work Ive seen from Jim and I know we have all seen better work. "Bruce Almighty", "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind" and "Liar Liar" Hell even the "Ace Ventura" films were great..

This movie was so fucking abysmal, 45 minutes in and not one laugh... I just couldn't stand it anymore... I walked out... Don't waste your time or money!

I liked it better than Bruce Almighty(7/10), but not by much. But if anyone else had played Jim Carrey's part, it would have just been another comedy. He really made this movie. Tea Leoni, i am not really a fan of her's but she surprised me in this one.

The best scene is when they had those voice things. I about died laughing.
