Panthers over Patriots
I predicted at the beginning of the season, and I'm sticking to it. The Seahawks are soft.

NFC: The Seahawks are overrated, the Bears need to score more points, and the Panthers need to stop choking themselves. Dallas is inconsistent, and Washington needs to prove they belong by beating a good team in the New York Giants this weekend, a team that literally smoked them last time they met.
Therefore, my pick is the New York Giants.
They've been tough, and kept every loss close except for the shit-stomping by San Diego. I can't say anything to that, because the Chargers hold the only victory over the 13-1 Colts.
AFC: God-damnit I want it to be the Bengals. But between San Diego, Kansas City, Pittsburgh, and the Colts... there's no way they will stop the run on any of those backs. Pittsburgh they may have a chance on, because if you turn the game into a shoot-out like they did last time, you put the game on Roethlisberger and he isn't a super-dooper-throw 40 passes a game-quarterback. Same could happen with Kansas City and Trent Green's suck-and-fuck wideouts.
Maybe next year. Though if the AFC Championship game comes down to Cinci vs. New England, I feel that would be their BEST shot at getting to the Superbowl. Dillon is washed up and I think they can bring the pain to him this year.
Patriots are... what's that forgotten word again? HURT. People forgot to say that now that they're winning again.
Denver is a solid contender if they don't have to face Indianapolis or Cincinnati. They've proven they can beat the others, hands down. Deltha O'Neal and Tory James also have their names branded on Jake Plummer's ass.
I hate to say this, but due to the tragedy within the Colts organization, they may have lost their edge and focus for winning the superbowl this year. Who knows. Maybe they haven't. But one thing's for certain: We won't really find out until their first match in the playoffs a month from now. We all remember Brett Favre a few years back on Monday night against the Raiders...
Kansas City lacks the vertical attack. Pittsburgh has the vertical attack, but only because they've had a very consistent running game. Bettis will likely be dead by the wild card game, and Willie Parker and Duce Staley just... suck.
The Chargers have "it". You could also call it a three headed monster in Gates, Tomlinson, and the 3-4 defense with Merriman coming alive. The confidence they've received from knocking off the colts must have them all walking around with 50 lb. balls. They've beaten the Colts, and their toughest challenge will be Denver, who they lost on a last second field goal to earlier in the season. (Haven't met up again, yet.)
Therefore, I believe that the Chargers will run the table and be representing the AFC in the Superbowl.

I see this scenario being much the same for the Colts. And Dungy will return to the field with some new insight on how to tighten up the secondary and keep the Chargers from pulling off a win again...should they actually get that far in the playoffs.
It's too bad that the Chargers won't make it past Pittsburgh or Denver. But they won't. And I don't believe that the Steelers or the Broncos will be able to thwart Indianapolis.
New England is too battered to win convincingly against four of the AFC contenders right now. Indianapolis, Kansas City, San Diego and Denver have all handed them losses. And San Diego just beat them senseless. The Pats will be eliminated no later than round 2.
AFC Champion: Indianapolis Colts
If someone were to tell me that the Bears would be playoff contenders just four short months ago, I would have laughed out loud. But now they are.
The Falcons have proven to me that they aren't ready for the playoffs.
This narrows the field between the Bucs, the Panthers, the Bears, the Giants, the Vikings and the Seahawks. What do all but one of these teams have in common? Losses to Carolina. Chicago pulled out a win. Tampa Bay won one in the division rivalry, but they just aren't capable of shutting down the contenders on this list. In my opinion, only Carolina has the tools to go the distance. Even then, this is the NFC we're talking about.
NFC Champion: Carolina Panthers
So that leaves Indianapolis and Carolina. Simply put, the NFC is awful. No team in the conference is prepared to contend with the AFC. There are so many powerful teams in the AFC to compete with. And this year, I don't believe the Colts will falter.

What I would be concerned with Carolina on is their rushing attack. Their touchdown machine Stephen Davis is on injured reserve. DeShaun Foster has been an injury magnet for them since day one, and would be an awesome versatile attack for them if he could stay healthy.
However, he's currently banged up now (shoulder), and I'm not really sure if that's affecting his play any. (Held under 100 yds in last three weeks; Tampa, N.O., Dallas)
If he can stay healthy and as a feature back for week 17 to clinch playoffs/division, Wild Card round, Divisional Round, NFC Championship Game, and then Superbowl... it would give Carolina a much better chance, but ehhh... I wouldn't be caught putting money on it.
Yea yea, two words for me: Nick Goings. Well, Nick "Not" Goings to be rushing all over the NFC elite in back-to-back playoff games if DeShaun Foster goes down, let alone the Superbowl.
