Ok people.
I've had enough of this.
This is something I see constantly that annoys me to no end.
It's time for common sense to kick in.
This was inspired by Ammon Gilbert's recent article on Final Destination 3 in which he calls the third installment the third sequel? What the fuck?! How can it be the third sequel if it's the second sequel?! If it was the third sequel, it would be the fouth film in the series!!!
People don't seem to comprehend the meaning of sequel. Sequel is meant to only be used for continuations of a story. In other words, the next installment. So I ask you this, how can the original be a direct continuation of itself? Because when you say things like third sequel, you're implying the original is a continuation of itself.
Please wake up everybody! I see this TOO much all over the place, including on these boards..
Remember, it goes:
Original
Sequel (second movie)
Second Sequel (third movie)
Third Sequel (fourth movie)
Fourth sequel (fifth movie)
...and so on...
