Ok people.
I've had enough of this.
This is something I see constantly that annoys me to no end.
It's time for common sense to kick in.

This was inspired by Ammon Gilbert's recent article on Final Destination 3 in which he calls the third installment the third sequel? What the fuck?! How can it be the third sequel if it's the second sequel?! If it was the third sequel, it would be the fouth film in the series!!! :mad:

People don't seem to comprehend the meaning of sequel. Sequel is meant to only be used for continuations of a story. In other words, the next installment. So I ask you this, how can the original be a direct continuation of itself? Because when you say things like third sequel, you're implying the original is a continuation of itself.

Please wake up everybody! I see this TOO much all over the place, including on these boards..
Remember, it goes:

Original
Sequel (second movie)
Second Sequel (third movie)
Third Sequel (fourth movie)
Fourth sequel (fifth movie)
...and so on...

I honestly don't see much of it, but when I do, I chalk it up to a minor, overlooked detail that the writer's mind passes over because when they're writing, it SOUNDS right while they put it through their mental filter to the page.

As a writer myself, you'll be surprised just what bullshit one is apt to write and not notice till they reread it.

Take it from me folks - proofreading is your BEST friend :D

I'm right there with you, albeit in a different medium...

so there was an Intel 386, then a 486, then the Pentium...

then the Pentum II, III, IV....

Yeah, I see that quite often too and it's quite annoying...

It's like those people who use those words-that-aren't-really words, like "supposably," or say "I could care less," when the proper expression is "I couldn't care less." Ah, well. What are ya gonne do? Not all of us are masters at the English language.

We're all humans and we all make typos, how about e-mailing Ammon about it next time so he can correct it and learn from his mistakes. Would've been more constructive methinks :)

Ok, this was too priceless.

"If watching a roller coaster crash and burn while patrons fly off to their untimely and gruesome deaths sounds like a good time, then the (ahem) second sequel to FINAL DESTINATION is just your bag!"


Looks like Ammon has learned the error of his ways.
