I’ve seen the ads in Fangoria Magazine, the video on the Friday the 13th Bonus DVD.
Basically I'm at the point in my life were If going to try this it needs to be now.
I'm 24, in good health; I have no Debt, Single, No kids.
I do have a job , but I feel like it's a dead-end job.
I'm about to email them for Info on the College after 1st of the year.
Does anyone know anyone who has attended the college???
Basically I'm going to try to get aid 1st, and if that doesn't work I'll try to take out a loan.
What are your opinions?
BTW,
Merry Christmas.

I think it's an absolutely fantastic idea, you obviously have a genuine passion for the genre, and as you say you're only 24 with no ties, if I were you (and I wish I was!!!) I'd go for it and give it everything you've got!! This could be one of the best decisions you make in your life. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do it!! I'd be interested to hear how you get on. It's great to read a post like this, I'm 33 and I wish to god I'd done something in films, there's still time for me yet, but for someone like yourself you've got a perfect opportunity to turn a hobby in to a career!!! Best of luck with it dude!!
Merry Christmas ;)

i agree with Jagged
if you want to do it, do it...theres nothing worse than looking back on something you could have done and regretting that you didnt
good luck if you decide to do this and make sure to keep us informed :)
and a Merry Christmas to all

I feel the need to warn you based on what I've heard from those who graduated from the program. They basically say it's a huge waste of money. There's so many things the school lacks, you're better off somewhere else. Now, there were some alternative schools mentioned that they had wished they'd gone to. I think the Joe Blasco school was one of them. The fx guy who worked on my film told me all the dirt and I was shocked to hear it. And apparently there's a Savini seal of approval (or something) that gets put on selective portfolios, which is of no real importance. But if you're seriously considering the make-up/fx biz, there's a myspace group (http://groups.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=groups.groupProfile&groupID=100015779&Mytoken=98649a9e-3cc4-4ab8-ad30-ae5ee1b2f7f4) for the Savini school where the graduates rant all the time. They'll tell you places that have better programs.

That's disconcerting, Klownzilla. I've always entertained the idea of looking into Savini's school. If this is the field that you want to pursue, it's a good idea to consider every make-up effects institution out there. Definitely go for it, though. No kids? Now is the perfect time to shape your career.

Maybe this is a twist of fate, I had my hours cut back on my job from being 35-38, to 12 :(
I'm going to try to find a list of every make-effects programs out there.
