1. Peter Jackson - what he did with King Kong was just mind boggling in mind; mixing great action, emotion, love, CGI, etc. in a fantastic fantasy epic.

2. Steven Spielberg - the man just knows movies. First he comes out with a great sci-fi movie in War of the Worlds, then he segways into Munich: a powerful, emotional drama dealing with religion, terrorism, tragedy, and manages to take all that and puts it into perspective with current events.

3. Robert Rodriguez/Frank Miller - If you've seen Sin City than you know what I'm talking about. This visually stunning movie makes for a fun time at the movies. It's arguably the most unique movie as far as visuals and cinematography are concerned.

4. George Lucas - It's the movie every single Star Wars fan has been waiting for. And Lucas delivers an emotional, gripping, action-packed finale that brought a close to the most famous movie saga in history.

5. Christopher Nolan - He was given the task to restart one of Warner Bros.' best franchises and he delivered on all accounts. Batman Begins was dark, detailed, and best of all fun.

6. Tim Burton - Nobody thought that a remake (or reimagining - whatever) of Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory was a good idea, but Burton's Charlie and the Chocolate Factory brought a new style to the story and brought in emotion, CGI, and a more cooky character - thanks to Burton's frequent collaborator: Johnny Depp.

7. Paul Haggis - Not only did he direct Crash and its awesome cast, he wrote the script. The man brings to the forefront an issue that nobody really likes to confront - race relations in modern society. He does it brilliantly too.

8. David Cronenberg - While its the actors that are taking most of the credit for A History of Violence, it's the film's director that should be taking it. Holding nothing back as far as the graphicness of the movie. Hell, "Violence" is in the freakin' title.

9. James Mangold - Joaquin Phoenix and Reece Witherspoon, rightfully so, deserve most of the credit for Walk the Line, but Mangold brings it all together - he deserves some of the credit for making this excellent biopic.

10. Andrew Adamson - While the movie was geared to children, meaning the violence was toned down, the movie was still a visually spectacular feat and Adamson makes a great epic geared toward the kids.

** Still haven't seen Brokeback Mountain, Cinderalla Man, or Hustle & Flow
