I'll follow suit and do one of these too :D It's as of 4/01/06...it could change when I see films I haven't seen from 2005 or ever...such as Munich or Walk the Line or whatever.

In my Countdown I'll include the Director, Year Released and the Highlight of the film, as well as including how many nominations/wins it received at my year-end awards (which only began in 1997, so it only counts for films from 1997 onwards). :)

69. Scent of a Woman-9/10...probably my favorite Al Pacino performance next to Dog Day Afternoon...a wonderful movie, my favorite scene being the one in the restaurant where he picks up the girl(forgot her name...sexy looker w/sultry lips) and they do the tango.

68. Traffic-9/10...a great movie that I happened to watch again like 3 weeks ago...about as good as it gets depicting the drug trade awesome cast...especially Douglas, Del Toro, Zeta-Jones and Christensen.

67. Alien-8/10...I still like the original more but this sequel is one of the all time awesomest(is that a word even) action/sci-fi films ever with Weaver giving a kickass performance!

Oh, that scene is very much a runner-up for the highlight of the movie. Actually, it is the best scene. I don't know why I even put the blind-driving scene before it, I wasn't thinking clearly...I love both scenes though.

And thanks to those continuing to be interested in the list and taking the time to read it :)

66. Schindler's List-10/10...Spielberg's masterpiece...(though I rate other of his films higher on my list)...never-the-less this story is as powerful as ever and certainly one of the greatest films of all time.

65. Casino-9/10...strange as it seems this Scorsese Vegas mob epic sometimes gets lost when considering the director's best work...it has its flaws but come on! It still is a great film...Sharon Stone's best work!

64. 21 Grams-8/10...as depressing and harrowing as any film in the last decade...all star cast of Penn, Watts and Del Toro are all great but Naomi Watts was outstanding and should have been nominated for this film!

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind - Somewhat overhyped but still a wildly inventive, moving love story. Carrey and Winslet are excellent, while MOST of the supporting cast is spot on as well (if only they'd gotten rid of the VILE Kirsten Dunst, the bitch can't act worth shit and all of her scenes in the film are cringe inducing). 8.5/10

The Aviator - The best movie of last year. 9/10

The Last Samurai - I was surprised by how much I liked this epic, beautifully shot with poetic images that literally tells the story. Cruise is good but Watanabe is superb. 8/10

To Kill a Mockingbird - A faithful adaptation of Harpo Lee's novel. Slightly overlong but definitely powerful, Gregory Peck's performance Atticus is among one of the best there is. Subtle and haunting, especially the scene where he's informed of Tom Robinson's death........wow. 9.5/10

The Grapes of Wrath - The book is sheer perfection, and the film does a splendid job of true to its themes. The acting is marvelous across the board, especially Henry Fonda, who is perfectly cast as one of the greatest heroes of all time. 9/10

A Clockwork Orange - In a word, spectacular. 10/10

The Birds - Possibly my favorite film involving killer animals. Hitchcock is the master of suspense and his talents are evident here, as he effortlessly sets up tension within every scene, and when the climax finally arrives, it pays off BIG time. 9/10

Interview with a Vampire - One of the better vampire movies that I've seen. The dark, gothic feel of it and Brad Pitt's poignant performance as Louis really heighten the film. Plus, any film that could make Kirsten Dunce tolerable (a very hard task) is definitely ok in my book. 8/10

The Elephant Man - Heartwrenching, to say the least, with an absolutely incredible performance from John Hurt that makes you really feel for the character. 9/10

Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon - The genius of director Ang Lee turns what could've been another standard martial arts flick into an unforgettable moviegoing experience with a nice blend of exhilirating action, tragic romance, and human drama. 9/10

The Sixth Sense - The only decent M. Night Shyamalyan film, boosted up tremendously by the acting (I'm referring to Bruce Willis' subtle, restrained performance and an absolutely heartbreaking turn from Toni Collette, NOT Haley Joel Osment's forceful overacting, the kid was MUCH better in A.I. and Edges of the Lords). 7/10

The Blair Witch Project - LOL. No comment. People already know how I feel about this film.

Pleasantville - One of the most underappreciated, largely unseen films of the 1990's. The gorgeous art direction speaks for itself and is definitely one of the many strengths this original film has to offer, but in addition to that, the film produces excellent work from one of the best ensemble casts ever, a sharp, witty script, and some of the most genuinely moving moments I've seen on film. The universal themes are covered with surprising sophistication, while the directing is also splendid. 9/10

I adore PLEASANTVILLE. It's among my top 10 films and it just so happens that I just finished watching it. It had been a couple years, but the movie gets better with every viewing.

The art direction and cinematography are simply stunning and the performances outstanding across the board, but what truly makes it a great, masterful film is the illumination of the power of knowledge over ignorance and the beauty of imperfection in a world where change is as inevitable as it is scary.

Of course LOTR: FOTR is my #2. Total masterpiece. Haven't seen House of Sand and Fog. Forrest Gump is a great epic-fused drama. Wizard of Oz is overrated but good. Return to Oz is much truer to L. Frank Baum's novels.
