Playing off of easily my favorite thread on the entire boards, the "Whats the scariest thing thats ever happened to you" thread, this is the "Whats the scariest dream you've ever had" thread. I'm sure we've all had some real doozies.

I'll start off by sharing mine. Happened just the other night in fact.

For some reason, War of the Worlds was happening in my town. Except, it was real life, like a couple years after the events in the movie happened. Cities were rebuilding, things were being studied, theories made....and then, aliens attacked again. Except, this time, instead of vaporizing people, they would suck them up into the air, freeze them, then shatter them, so that they would rain down on everyone. They were pissed off about losing the first time around and showing no mercy this time. I was running around my town like a maniac trying to save my friends, but the aliens were messing with me. They singled out all of my friends and forced me to watch them die. I hid in my house, but the phone rang and the caller I.D. displayed (000) 000-0000 as the number and the name said "Stupid human, you cant hide". I freaked the fuck out and somehow got weapons and started blowing shit up. Some aliens retreated but one came down and got out of the ship and right in my face. He was like 3 feet tall and stuck his finger out and zapped me with something, freezing me. He didnt shatter me though, just left me there frozen, scared shitless.

I then woke up only to see a shadow in the corner of my room about 3 feet tall. I freaked out, and started sweating and breathing heavy, even though I was already doing so just from the dream. I blinked my eyes a few times and the shadow went away, and I somehow drifted back to sleep.

I'm a strong believe in aliens and all that jive and have heard stories of people having dreams about being abducted and what not only to find they actually were abducted and made to believe it was a dream, and I was freaking out thinking that happened to me, and was so relieved when the shadow disappeared.

It was one of the most realistic dreams I've ever had and one I wont soon forget.

It's been a damn few good years since I've had a dream that actually scared me (most that people would call 'nightmares' are actually the ones I enjoy), but the one that sticks in my mind even today was one I had about 5 years ago.

I was in a small town with a group of friends, when during a traffic jam on the nearby highway, a container fell off the back of a huge truck. The container broke open, releasing a gas that INSTANTLY turned those it touched into white-eyed flesh eaters. A memorable "shot" from the dream (it played almost like a movie for the first half) was the driver of the truck as the gas seeped into the cab. He was struggling to get out, then all of a sudden, just looked right out of the window, mouth agape as his eyes turned plain white. Of course moments later I found myself pursued by a legion of these "zombies".

I ran into a nearby building and locked myself in the bathroom. Pounding on the door ensued for the next few minutes until one of my friends, who had been turned into one of the creatures, began to talk and reason with me...saying that they wouldn't harm me if I opened the door. For some stupid fucking reason I unlocked the door and they just flooded in, knocking me to the ground. I put my hand up to protect myself as my zombie friend straddled me, and he simply bit three of my fingers off.

And I felt it.

To this day I cannot accurately describe the feeling from that dream. I woke up instantly, gripping my hand and checking my fingers. It felt so fucking real when he bit down, nothing since has ever had the same effect.

I was walking back to my house from the Red Cross Shop where I volunteer at and I remember walking across from a convinience store when I was suddenly in a line up against the fence, held at by by armed men who I guess were terrorists who didn't have any sort of defining facial features.
Then they systematically began to shoot random people and I was one of them. I fell to the ground with a bullet in my chest someplace and the terrorist walked away. I kept thinking "I should be dead" but I wasn't.
I don't know how I did it, but I found myself managing to climb over the fence and running from the area without being noticed, but all tha time, I was on an adrenalin high. N
ext thing I know, I'm crying about what has happened to a student at my local TAFE college and I told her what had happened and she walked away before she walked back again and then showed me a hiding place at the top of this spiral staircase that was enclosed by a stone wall.
At the top was a locker room and she told me I could hide there. I didn't ask any questions by I continued to cry and thank her, then a male student shows up, and the female student tells him what I had been through. Next thing I know, I'm lying on the stair case, both of them hugging me, while I'm holding both of them tightly, feeling completely out of hope because the odds of me surviving a possible invasion was slim.
No comforting words were given despite it was obvious that my good samaritans were trying to comfort me.
Confusing yet at the same time rather disturbing. Just as well it WAS a dream rather than a reality, but for some reason, it felt so real despite the random acts and appearances that occured.

I always have dreams of my uncle's face popping up all over the place. It shows up in mirrors, windows, in the back of a crowd, etc. He passed away about a year ago, so it's pretty creepy. Even creepier is that I wake up from the dream with my heart pounding, and then I see the face again. Then I wake up again, like in American Werewolf in London, I keep realizing 'it was just a dream.' Every time I see the face I scream until my lungs are out of air, it's intense.
