Why I love this film...well for one its a kickass WWII story of a small band of commandos led by Clint Eastwood and Richard Burton, who storm a Bavarian Nazi stronghold to rescue a fallen American officer...but also I have been to the castle where it was filmed...in 1992(I was 14 at the time) on my geography field trip to Austria, we visited the place and it was the first time I heard about the movie.

My absolute favorite Chaplin film and my favorite silent film...saw this for the the first time in my Intro to Film class in college...I don't remember laughing so hard in my life...it was one of the films that helped me open my eyes to films of that era...before that I was your average punk who liked his 80's comedies and action movies and on through the 90's etc.(Don't get me wrong if that's all you have seen and all you like I have no problem with that)...but like I said it opened me to the beginnings of film etc...and I am a huge fan of history...including obviously film history.

Eventhough it spawned 4 sequels...let us not forget that the first one is still a great film! It won best picture in '76...Stallone's career highlight no doubt about it(Rambo being his 2nd of course)...still a great boxing movie and a great sports movie!

I was astounded when I first saw this film...the visuals are stunning and the film-noiresque tale is always an interesting and intriguing one...Kiefer Sutherland steals every scene he is in as the treacherous doctor...and who can resist the sensous Jennifer Connelly!?

I think I'm in the minority when I say I think the first one is better(better isn't exactly the word)...I just love the grittiness of the first, the straight-forward violence...the simplicity of Arnold as the villian, like opening the door to a suburban house and blowing away a woman with a single name...the tech-noir scene is pry my favorite though...the whole way that scene develops...and let us not forget the attack on the police station...its just awesome all around what else can I say!

I find Dark City really, really overrated, as well as Alex Proyas' other "masterpiece" :rolleyes: The Crow. Never understood the appeal of either film.
