Do you guys have any idea which horror title has the most sequels? I swear I read in a book a few years ago that the record was for the HOUSE franchise. Remember that movie House? About that writer and stuff? I know there's a sequel, there's a part 3 (AKA Horror Show) and a part 4 which I've never seen, but I've never heard of any others. It can't possibly have more than the Jason/Freddy sequels can it?

No, "House" has nothing on Nightmare, F13 and Halloween.

-"House" has 3 sequels.

-"A Nightmare on Elm Street" has 6 sequels, or 7, whether you count FvJ as just a spin-off or not.

-"Friday The 13th" has 9 sequels, or 10, whether you count FvJ as just a spin-off or not.

-"Halloween" has 7 sequels.

-"Hellraiser" has 7 sequels.

-"The Texas Chainsaw Massacre" has 3 sequels, a remake, and possibly a prequel to take place before the remake.

-"Child's Play" has 4 sequels.

-"The Amityville Horror" must also have around 7 sequels, as well as a remake.

F13 wins. House loses.

It's not strictly horror but the franchise with the most films is Godzilla.

Actually, Witchcraft has 11 sequels, and I'm fairly certain that a twelfth is in production. Witchcraft is the (shitty, low-budget, laughable) victor.

How about Children of the Corn? 6 I think

Silent Night, Deadly Night has 4 sequels.
Leprechaun has 5 sequels.
Wathchers has 3 or 4 I think.
The Howling has 6 sequels.
Prom Night has 3 or 4.

Yeah, this is true. They just keep making them and making them and making them.

Definitely hands down. It has almost 30 movies... and that's not including the American one or Toho's spin off monster movies. Speaking, of Godzilla hopefully, I get my 7-pack in today:D

I didn't know there were so many 'Witchcraft' movies. I haven't seen any of them at the local stores for years. I've only seen 'Witchboard.'

The first "Witchcraft" movie was a rip-off of Rosemary's Baby. The following 12 movies are a combination of horror and Skinemax, with more emphasis on Skinemax.

www.1000misspenthours.com has some good, snarky, in-depth reviews of several of the movies.

I know nothing about this filnm but here is a quote from a memeber on annother forum I post on

"There`s this HK series of horror movies called Troublesome Night, while as far as I know there`s
no connection between each part but there`s frigging 19 movies or so in the series."

I once read in a Roger Ebert Guide to Movies book that House had 10 sequels (most of them direct to video). I've never seen evidence of these, but supposedly they exist.

Competing with Godzilla for the top spot is the man himself, Mr Bond. James Bond. His movies are up in the 20s.

House definitely does not have ten sequels. You either misread that or it was a misprint. Or maybe Roger Ebert shot a slew of House movies in his backyard.

Well, Ebert also thinks that there's over 20 "Friday The 13th" sequels. I don't know about the rest of you, but I wouldn't rely on him when it comes to slasher movie sequels that he regularly gives half-star ratings to.

Now this is my first post here (at this forum)
But anyhow, I think this is incorrect. Godzilla has 34 (I think).
Sherlock Holmes (also not horror) has 90 or more.
Hold on, I had a link.. I will look for it.
Being a new member, I may not be able to post urls.

Here it is, its about TV shows, but later in the page it goes into movies.
So look towards the bottom.

The Godzilla movies were all made by Toho Studios with a few exceptions. That count of Sherlock Holmes is not particularly accurate; it simply counts every film featuring Sherlock Holmes. These include the classic oldies with Basil Rathbone, but also various made for TV films, straight to video cartoons, short features (as part of a double bill) and others, all made by different studios and different actors, the only link being the character of Holmes.

So not sure if that counts.

Ok, I guess, I could go through and do a count on the Sherlock.
20th Century did 14 of them.

Anyhow, the same from what I see could apply to Godzilla.
I count 19 that were done by Toho.
There are other Toho creatures that starred (without Godzilla) in their own films. Inc. Radan, Mothra, Gamera, etc.. (if spelled correctly).
Godzilla as well had cartoon(s), and went straight to video as well.

Also different actors, hmm. Not being a smart butt, but also the no actor needed for Godzilla? And the main link for the others is Godzilla.

So does all the 21 Bond films count.
Just trying to see what rules apply.;)

Don't forget the kiddie "The Land Before Time" franchise. They're up to the point where they're not even going by roman numerals anymore and just saying "The Land Before Time: Final Dystinction"!

Carry On Screaming is good horror comedy spoof type thing though.
