Best Cop Movies

What are some of the best cop movies?
The ones that I can think of are Dirty Harry, Magnum Force, & Robocop. Thats about all that I can think of right now.

COLORS, the old one with Duvall and Penn, is a GREAT movie. Fantastic acting and a great story.

To go old school again, a lot of people belive the best cop movie to be Q & A, with Nick Nolte.

Gotta agree with the Die Hard & Lethal Weapon films aswell as Heat, Robocop 1 & 2, Copland and The Corrupter. I'd like to add Narc to the list which is without a doubt is one of the best damn movies i've ever seen.

Narc was gritty and very well-acted. I liked it.

My favorite is L.A. Confidential. Very well-made, acted, intricate story with some good twists and turns.

Now here's a ten list of rather focused real good cop movies:

Magnum Force (Ted Post 1973)
Telefon (Don Siegel 1977)
The Man On the Balcony (Daniel Alfredson 1993)
Murder At the Savoy (Per Berglund 1993)
The Fire Engine That Disappeared (Hajo Gies 1993)
The Police Murderer (Peter Keglevic 1994)

The last 4 are Swedish TV productions (with German co-production). Though 4 different directors they are quite similar, due to same main actor crew retained all through. Portraying the Columbo-like Inspector Martin Beck - he gives an awkward impression (his marksman performance would make Harry Callahan weep) - but he's exceptionally smart and able, supported by the rather invidualist detectives Gunvald Larsson and Lennart Kollberg - who also know their job very well - and the enthusiastic rookie detective Benny Skacke, who alas does nothing even close to it. It's 4 out of a series of 6, namely those that should be available in USA. Not that I'm chauvinist - the set IS amazingly good, believe it or not. It's the best Swedish TV-production ever, all categories, recently released in a DVD box over'n up here. - There's another set of Swedish cop movies featuring Martin Beck, and it's rather OK, but not nearly this good, and the grip of it is far more conventional.

Realized I missed a few great ones that i own and love so here are a few more. I know ive gone overboard, but I love a good cop film (and there are so many shit ones) IMO all the one I listed above and here are 8/10 or higher IMO.
