I got three new DVDs today, Red Eye, Hustle and flow and The Chumscrubber and after anxiously opening the DVDs, i only get the disc. Wheres my insert with scene selection?!

I've noticed this with newer DVDs, i guess to keep costs down they are cutting out the inserts, but without them the DVD seems and looks cheap to me. Usually they have an altrnate artwork too, and i always like that,

thoughts?

I've noticed that to. On alot of my DVD's that I get from Walmart and Sam Goody they come without inserts. My Hustle and Flow and Red eye came like that as well.

It's cheaper to not manufacture thousands and thousands of inserts. It is annoying but I'm paying for the movie and don't really care one way or the other about a listing of the chapters. It's always nice to have a little booklet with a couple of pages about the film though.

Just get some photo quality paper, find a website that has scans of the ones you want, or that have custom ones, or make your own, print them off and there you go.

That bothers me as well. They look so bare and cheap.

I've been noticing this more and more too. Give me a break, like they can't spring for at least a chapter listing...

I noticed this too and its been really pissin me off. I first noticed it when I bought HULK when it came out. Then recently I've been buying a few of the movies for 5.50 at wal mart that are decent but I wouldn't pay much more for. Those damn things all have flippin inserts but I dropped 15 - 20 bucks on Casino Special Edition and Bullitt Special Edition and got nothing in either one, however in Casino I got an ad for Vegas Season 1 and no info for the movie, ITs a damn rip and I think the studios should rethink this stuff. The good thing about dvd's and extras even if you don't watch them you feel like your getting a package and more for your money. If I didn't want that stuff I'd just rip the studios off by burning them. But I don't I like my movies, I like collecting them I like to pay the people that made the for them so they make more, but WTF?? On the upside my Hudson Hawk I got for 5.50 has got a 2 page fold out and chapter listing. funny huh...

Studios get paid to advertise inside of dvds. Its better for them to get paid by someone to advertise dvds, or tv shows etc., than to waste their own money and put in inserts. It's all about money. It may not seem like it, but those small one sheet inserts cost a lot to make.

The reason for that is because the Hudson Hawk dvd that you bought from Walmart is an old dvd. Back when dvds first came out, everything came with a small packet.

I know that this is all about money for the studio. But the reason all these dvd's keep getting Special Editions and what not is for the EXTRAS, If I wanted just the discs I would be the regular bottom line discs. Just because it costs more doesn't mean it can't be accomplished. These dvd's are supposed to be more of a package and value for the customer as well as a superior format. Thats why they started adding them to cd and dvd combo's to raise cd sales so you feel like you got more for your money. If I started getting cd's without covers and original artwork I would just start burning all these albums I buy. That theory goes double for dvd's because most of the time they are more expensive than a cd. I know why its done I just think its weak and it really needs to be fixed, otherwise why even pay the studios anymore if they can't give back to us a little bit.
