Just got my latest issue of Sound & Vision (I know. How cool am I?).
Looks like Blu-ray and HD-DVD may have already been trumped.
HVD Holographic Versatile Disc may be coming out as early as 2007.
The disc storage capacity is one terabyte (1000 gigabytes). That's enough to hold 80 hours of HDTV!
There are no products yet, but Optware (the company that invented it) predicts low-cost HVD drives, maybe by 2007.
I hope they make R2-D2s with HVD drives in them. Wouldn't that be keen?
