Kanye West, with a crown of thorns atop his head, poses as Jesus Christ on the cover of the upcoming issue of Rolling Stone.

The outspoken rapper defends his brash attitude inside the magazine's pages, on newsstands Friday. He is also pictured posing as Muhammad Ali.



"In America, they want you to accomplish these great feats, to pull off these David Copperfield-type stunts," he says. "You want me to be great, but you don't ever want me to say I'm great?"

West also says his hit song "Gold Digger" was the best song last year and that it should have been nominated for the Grammy's best rap song category: "That's a gimme Grammy."

Nevertheless, the 27-year-old is nominated for eight awards, including album of the year for his sophomore album, "Late Registration." The Grammys will be presented Feb. 8.

West has always been forthright in saying what he feels, most famously when he said "George Bush doesn't care about black people" during a telethon for Hurricane Katrina victims.

"If I was more complacent and I let things slide, my life would be easier, but you all wouldn't be as entertained," he says. "My misery is your pleasure."

The strangest tangent of the Rolling Stone story, however, is when West says he's addicted to pornography. He remembers first seeing his father's Playboy magazine when he was 5 years old.

"Right then," West says, laughing, "it was like, `Houston, we have a problem.'"

This guy sounds like an arrogant SOB- I heard his music last year and I didn't understand why everyone was raving about him. I guess he thinks he's pretty awesome.

As for all of this, here's my two cents:

-His first album, College Dropout was shit. Not THE shit, but, SHIT.

-His 2nd album, made me believe that mother-fucker was unstoppable. Like my big ass shitting flames an hour later after eating 8 to 10 hot wings from my favorite chicken place, Wings N' Things, I actually thought this guy was on fire...for about a month.

-His mouth makes me think KRS-One (the greatest MC to ever come out of N.Y. and could probably "lyrically" put 50 Cent and this punk out on the streets) should come out of retirement and pop Kanye upside his fuckin head.

-Fuck Rolling Stone for even approving this cover and fuck them for giving Lord Of War (2005, 8/10) a bad review when it rocked my fucking socks off.

-*Update due to Digi's pic* Actually, I partly take that back, only because I'm finally glad to see some fucking magazine other than TV Guide is paying attention to arguably the best show on TV right now.

-And yes outsyder, if there's any celebrity who has ever deserved a swift Patrick Swayze from Point Break, wait, no...Roadhouse, yeah that's it, Roadhouse-like roundhouse kick to the twig and dingleberries to prevent him from having to skeet, skeet, skeet all over the walls for a few weeks due to his so-called "addiction" (whatever, I can go a full week without skeeting or looking at internet porn, and believe me schmoes, I GOT AN ADDICTION!)...it's Kanye "The New Millenia's Terence Trent Darby" West.

as much as i love his 2 albums and appreciate his production skills, im growing tired of this stuff. its all for publicity and to try and cause a stir. i'll try to steer clear of his publicity stunts and just listen to his music. becuase as much as i disagree with his out of studio happenings, i luv da music.
