So, through the wonderful world of Netflix, I'm in the position to watch all the great anime movies out there...only I don't know of many. Here's where you guy's come in, in case you haven't already guessed.

I'd appreciate it if you only recommended "MOVIES" and not "SERIES" because I don't want to use up all of my slots for a month watching something.

TIA.

I like my anime's nice and violent, for the record. I've been meaning to check out Mononoke for quite some time, looks good.

Also for the record I have seen:

Akira - 8.5/10 (Convoluted third act keeps this from a 9)
Bebop the Movie - 9/10
Ghost in The Shell - 9/10
Ninja Scroll - 9/10
Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust - 9/10
Jin Roh: The Wolf Brigade - 9/10
...that's all that springs to mind at the moment.

As you can see I only make a habit of watching the absolute best anime films out there. I'm not an Anime junky in the sense that I'll watch anything animated. I like good characters, a smart plot, and well executed violence (ALA GITS, not a whole lot but the bits that did have action were superb)

The Animation doesnt have to be the newest shit, but it can't be crappy either (ALA original Vampire Hunter D, man was that bad)

"Perfect Blue", yo.

Also, if you've seen the series, check out "The Coqueror Of Shamballa" (Full Metal Alchemist)

I've seen a few episodes of Full Metal Alchemist, and it didn't strike me as anything special, though I'm not completely shutting down the idea of the movie.

Has anyone here seen "Gunslinger Girl" and if so, how is it? (I know I said no series, but I guess if its in the three-disk range then its ok)

It's ok, but nothing too special. It's too short and it's one of those animes that "Want to know what happens next? Buy the manga".

Oh, if it is a 3 disk limit you should check "FLCL", but im not sure how many dvd's are (It's 6 episodes long).

Three discs with two episodes each. Great, Great, insane but great series. Its not for everyone, but its a classic in my book.

Watch more episodes. I want to recommend more anime, but unfortunately you only want movies. Their are plenty of good series out there as well.

Vampire Hunter D
Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust
Princess Mononoke
Appleseed (CG one, not the original)
Ghost in the Shell (#2 sucks ass, so skip it)
Jin-Roh

There are many others, but those are the ones that i can truly recommend.

Outlaw star is cool. Its kinda like a space/western/samurai mix.

Outlaw Star starts off a lot better than it finishes. The series is very funny at times, and even has some pretty memorable action, however I didn't really care for the ending much.

Well right now Outlaw Star is gracing the top of my Netflix. So thank you guys.

What about Hellsing? Looks good.

I borrowed the entire Cowboy Bebop collection from a friend, so you all can stop yelling at me for not caring about series!!!

I've seen a couple of episodes of Oulaw Star and it was fun. Im going to watch it entirely one of this days.

Hellsing is pretty good. Nice action and cool characthers.

And Cowboy Bebop is an amazing series, it's all I can say.

Is Hellsing anything like bebop, as far as action goes?

Hellsing as a character looks wicked badass, I gotta say. Nothing like Hugh Jackman and that horrible movie...

Il post one that just came out and totaly kicks ass from its classical song of an opening to its hard rock ending, its insane artistic sense of style, lavish character designs, and air of intriuge and unwinding mystery.

GANKUTSUOU:THE COUNT OF MONTE CRISTO (its not what u think, it takes place in space, and the count is more like count DRACULA in design!)

I kid u not, this series roxxers. Its got an art style unlike anything ive ever watched, and the count himself is the most captivating anime hero/villians ive ever seen.

first time i watch FMA i only saw a few eps in the middle of the series and i thought it was ok. Then Cartoon network started from the begaining and to now its to the point. Where they are showing new eps everyweek and the series gets a lot better towards the end. So much so that i am really hooked on the series.

OutlawStar and Hellsing are really good series with just enough action to make up for there crummy endings.

I would like to add Naruto though. TRY TO GET THE JAPANESSE VERSION THOUGH. From what I heard the Cartoon Network version is just plain awful.

Yea...but both versions rely entirely to much on filler episodes.

Not all the filler episodes are bad though. Some pretty good ones.

"Azumanga Daioh" granted, it's not for everyone, but what really sets this one apart is the absurd humour.

Steam Boy is sposed to be pretty cool..

I'd also reccomend Full Metal Alchemist, Wolf's Rain, whatever Lupin III they have........ and that's all I can think of right now.

And put on subtitles, the American dubs usually make everything sound uber cheesy. :D

Oh, and as far as Naruto.. it was good till around ep 120, maybe a bit before. It's been a filler arc for literally the past fifty episodes because they had to let the manga get ahead of the anime..

But it returns to the source material in a few weeks!!

Wheee.. excited that maybe it'll be good again..
