It is called Ringleader of the Tormentors and due out April 4th.
I heard the first single, You Have Killed Me, and compared to any song of 'You are the Quarry', it is not very good.
But being that it is the Moz, it is better than most things out right now.
No doubt I will purchase it sometime down the road.
Tracks:
I Will See You In Far Off Places
Dear God, Please Help Me
You Have Killed Me
The Youngest Was the Most Loved
In the Future When All’s Well
The Father Who Must Be Killed
Life is a Pigsty
I’ll Never Be Anybody’s Hero Now
On The Streets I Ran
To Me You Are a Work of Art
I Just Want to See the Boy Happy
At Last I Am Born
Typical Morrissey titles.

I think somewhere along the line, Morrisey had a bad day :(

I think it's an excellent album. It's not on the same level as Vauxhall & I (his greatest solo achievement) but it can certainly stand shoulder to shoulder with the remainder of his solo work and head an shoulders above some of them (the appalling Kill Uncle springs immediately to mind). I Will See You In Far Off Places is a fucking mighty opening track and the quality remains pretty steady right up until the last track. There are though several stand outs. The opening track is one such along with first single You Have Killed Me and the quite stunning Life Is A Pigsty. It did take a few listens for the album to really catch my attention but not it's receiving at least one play through on my iPOD a day. Great stuff.

It's not as bad as I originally thought. In fact, it's ok.

I was a little worried before I picked up this album due to the bad word of mouth I've beenshearing everywhere but when I finally grabbed myself a copy I discovered this album is pure Moz. Sure some parts feel mediocre but overall it's classic Morrissey wearing his heart on his sleeve. Everytime his voice chimes in it's like the world stops.

I didn't want to start a new Morrissey related thread and the idea of scouring the archives without the aid of a fully functional search engine isn't very appealing. So this isn't about the new album. It's about Vauxhall & I. Specifically it's about the final song on that album. Speedway is...without a doubt...in my mind...the best song Morrissey has produced as a solo artist. It's an object lesson in how to close an album in epic fashion. Lyrically stunning. Musically breathtaking. It's the one Morrissey track I find myself returning to time and again (not that there aren't other songs I repeatedly play...it's just that with this one it's moreso). And the booming percussion at the end of the song...wow!!! Fucking great song.

The album's best feature:
the title of the album and cover art, which to be honest are both fucking brilliant.
From there it's a downhill slide.

I guess I must be hearing something that you're not. Or vice versa. Or perhaps both. I think it's a better album than You Are The Quarry. I think that the only solo album that betters it is Vauxhall & I (although Kill Uncle perhaps comes close to being as good). Specifically what do you dislike about it? The songs are typically overwrought but that's to be expected from Morrissey. The production is fucking awesome. His band are highly skilled in the tune department. I honestly don't see what's wrong with it. Bear in mind that my first reaction was disappointment. I guess I was expecting a masterpiece (it's good but not that good). But after a few listens the fog lifted and at least half a dozen songs suddenly leapt into focus. After several more listens I pretty much like to some degree every song on the album. It's beyond me how anyone who has enjoyed any of his solo work in the past could fail to be stirred by the album to some extent. How many times have you listened to it?

I've listened to it through about, I don't know.....three or four times. I realize every new Morrissey album doesn't bring anything radically different or daring but at least all of them seem to have a different and distinct feel to them. ROTT seems almost like a greatest hits package, but without the hits. I'm trying to say it seems like he's drawing on the success of You Are the Quarry a bit too much, just simply trying to capitalize on it.
There's nothing memorable here or different. It's not a particularly poorly made record, but it is quite a lazy one, in my opinion. I won't get into specific songs because there's only small highlights without a shred of ambition to me. Which isn't all bad I guess, but it definitely seems Morrissey is kind of resting on his laurels at this point. Which sucks.

Does anyone think that Life Is A Pigsty sounds musically at least a bit like something that Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds might produce? It sounds very un-Morrissey (for the first half of the song).

I'm actually bigger on Kill Uncle than any of his others..it has a quirky, non-moz feel that I really appreciated. Gave my eyes a chance to rest.
The new album is getting a lot of flak and it sucks, because its a fucking GREAT production. The string arrangements are all pretty great. Boz is top notch. I would rate it a little lower than YATQ, but I'd imagine that it was such a long wait.
AND MOZ IS TALKIN DIRTY! Come on! That's hilarious. I havne't really let it sink in yet, but.. well, it takes a while. Like adopting a kid, or some shit..
Vuxhall is pretty spot on, too. Used to be A Sweet Boy is my favorite track on the album - bit of subtle mozzy badness that I think gets overlooked a little too often.
Yeah..
he's still my favorite person on earth.

i'd want to see him on tour for the album just so long as a good portion of the songs were either from the cd's Bona Drag or Kill Uncle .
