Do you ever listen to music while writing?

I tend to do so usually. I normally like to listen to music that fits the tone of the movie I am writing. Right now with my new screenplay I have been listening to a lot of Something Corporate and JAck's Mannequin to get a feel for what my characters are kind of like. Anyone else do this?

Almost always. I need either silence or something soothing. Anything loud is no good for me.

Always, usually a mix of Alice In chains, tool, A perfect circle, the doors, Johnny Cash, and one or two Pantera songs...

I basically have a playlist for writing..its good.

I like the idea of listening to music while writing, and I enjoy listening to music while writing - but I don't do it often because I write much more slowly when there's music playing. Sometimes, if I'm finding it hard to get down to writing, I'll put on some music to set the scene but as soon as I am writing, I have to turn it off.

At the moment I'm writing a Silent Hill fanfic and I listen to music from the games to help inspire me while I'm writing.

I think in some cases it can help. I know it is definetly helping me while writing this Silent Hill fan fic.

most of the movies i write i make myself so i always pick a general soundtrack out before hand and use that playlist while im writing. i find it helps me get in the mood and it really sets the scenes for me.
