What the hell is Joblo thinking??????

From the feedback I'm hearing, the Moviehottie.com site is a horrible idea. I haven't heard one person give it praise. I checked out the site and was not impressed at all, however I don't know what would impress me with a site like that. Here are a couple reasons why I hope this site gets shut down.

1. We have enough tabloids out there.
Why give us more of something that we all complain about. Joblo and countless others talk mounds of dookie about girls like Paris Hilton, Jessica Simpson, and Lindsey Lohan for being spotlight grabbing bimbos. This site is exactly what they want. It only perpetuates the worst in us.

2. None of the news on the site will be breaking.
It looks to me like Joblo will be regurgitating what he sees on US Weekly or People or whatever those mags are. In short, this site is E! on a web page.

3. Joblo.com could suffer.
The man who brought us this great site is now dedicating some or who knows, maybe the majority of his time since it's a new site and needs to gain ground, to moviehotties.com and hence joblo.com will get less work on. I hope I'm wrong about this. The jury is still out.

4. No more hottie updates on Joblo.com.
We all love hottie updates. I remember when they happened sprodically and I would smile and say, "goodie". Every week is little much if you ask me and I like the old format better but that is my opinion. And I would take the format now over NOTHING AT ALL! I don't want to search for news on "hotties" I want the news given to me. Hottie Updates tells me about girls I never knew existed and I liked that.

5. Do we really want to see all these girls in one place and only hear about them?
I like hearing about movies, hence my membership to this great site. If a good looking girl happens to be in a movie that interests me all the better. If I'm looking to get off on looking at a girl on the internet, I won't go to see one that has women who aren't exposed. I'm going straight to the porn. While I'm being a little fasiscious here the point stands.

What are your comments as I know this is a very interesting subject to many on this site. Blast me, praise me, do whatever. Just make sure to tell me why.

Ok, i skipped all of that, and I'm sorry for that..

but I'll just state my opinion. I don't mind the site at all it's nice to see some high res pictures of celebs and reading about the stupid crap celebs do or whatever it is. JoBlo sufferring? that's the last thing that's gonna happen to him w/ that site. The man sufferred enough last year.

Jo has acheived a lot I say since the site started from pretty much nothing and no probs w/ experimenting with something new.
You do have a choice NOT to look at it. IF he does then he is willing and able to fix/ remedy the problem. If there is a will there is ALWAYS a will.

No problem here with that. I just hope this great site, of which Joblo made what it is, doesn't suffer. I doubt it will though. I just wanted to voice my opinion.

Straight up, I have NO IDEA who you've been talking to, but the 2 threads that we opened about MovieHotties.com (it's plural, man...don't fuck up the URL... :)), received 100% support actually, and that's extremely rare on this board, as peeps have no problem lacing into whenever they don't like something -- witness your post, for example. I also received about 20 emails yesterday (including a couple of "Hollywood folk", every single one of which was praise for the site. Seriously...NOT ONE person wrote anything negative about it. But allow me to address your points anyway:

I can get into a debate with you on this, but why bother...just like anything in life, if you don't like it...DON'T VISIT IT. That's the great thing about living in a free country.

You've visited the site for one day and already you're making assumptions of what it will and won't be? Dude...we JUST launched the site yesterday...how about you give us some time to find our bearings. We're actually negotiating with some peeps right now for cool stuff, and the reason the SCOOPS form exists is...well, so that people can send us SCOOPS!!

Lastly, even if it doesn't break news...so what? Do you really think that other people other visit celeb sites because they "break news" or because they like reading the little stories, enjoy their reporting style and dig the pics? My guess is the latter.

This is a somewhat fair assumption (but again, it's an ASSumption, and you know the whole schtick about those things), but no foundation of truth in it, whatsoever. When I started JoBlo.com back in 1998, it was me and my keyboard. By 2001, I had added a couple of people to help me along and by 2006, we now have close to 20-25 people working on the site in one capacity or another.

I actually have a business degree, have run businesses before and know what it takes to expand, etc... I'm also not dumb-dumb enough to open a new site, while not thinking through if it would negatively affect our prized possession: JoBlo.com.

Not in any way, shape or form will JoBlo.com be negatively affected by the addition of this new site to its wings. Just like it wasn't affected when we added the DVD CLINIC or THE ARROW IN THE HEAD or THE GOLDEN SCHMOES or anything else. It's all part of our growth and so far....so good... :)

Damn dude, now I'm REALLY confused!! You're dissing the new site entitled MOVIE HOTTIES, a site dedicated to (basically) giving you DAILY DOSES of HOTTIE UPDATES, and yet you're gonna "miss them" on JoBlo.com? Color me confused.

Solution: Why don't you just check out the new site ONCE A WEEK and therefore get your fill. Or better yet, check out Omar's new HOTTIE UPDATE (http://www.joblo.com/index.php?id=10303) every Friday, which breaks down all of the top hottie stories.

Just like my response to your first point...TO EACH HIS OWN, bro. If you don't want to visit the site, that's cool...there are plenty of others who likely will and plenty of other who likely won't. All I know is that the key to failure is to try to please everybody at once.

I dig porn too and will actually check out both MovieHotties.com AND my porn! That's right...they can co-habitate, baby!!

Incidentally, the site's 1st day was beyond successfull (specifically, traffic-wise) as we surpassed our alloted bandwidth on the site on our first day and needed to cut a new deal with our hosts for more space.

Hopefully that will continue and despite not seeing eye-to-eye on most of your points, I'm glad you brought them up. We can't have ALL POSITIVE FEEDBACK all the time...it doesn't make sense!! :)

That said, thanks to EVERYONE who has been praising the site so far...mucho appreciated

Thanks for you reply and good answers to my query. I was unaware of the other threads you mentioned and I'll read those. My impression was made by the posts at the bottom of the news article on your original page regarding the dissapearing of Hottie Updates. I did assume a lot and it was premature. Just so we're clear on the Hottie Update thing. I liked getting it in small doses as you gave us originally. I said I wasn't too thrilled with the new format but others liked it so I was fine. I commend you on trying out a new idea. I hope I didn't insult you as that is never my intention on any of my posts. Just out of curiousity, who in Hollywood thought the idea was a good one?

I haven't warmed up to the site. The biggest reason is that I find it quite mean-spirited - There seems to be a lot of degrading remarks and even direct bashing towards the women it tells about.

I don't like that. It takes away all the fun from watching hot women. I would prefer a very positive and excited, fun attitude in the site instead of the rather cynical undertones it now has.

Hopefully it will become in the future less cynical and more fun.

Well, since you brought up the DVD Clinic... ;)

Kidding. Absolutely kidding.

Here's what I have to say on the www.moviehotties.com issue -- I checked it out when it opened, and I'm not a huge fan of it as it is right now. Basically for the reason Tuukka stated, also because, unlike joblo.com, it's not something unique, to me. I love the high-res pictures on www.moviehotties.com (and notice how I keep typing the link so people will feel enclined to click and check it out, plug plug), but those are pictures I can find other places, so again, there's nothing fantastically unique about it like here, which I think is the great thing about JoBlo's.

But basically -- I just don't go on there all that often now, and don't plan on going on there all that often in the future either. I personally do like the idea of the Hottie Updates here every week or so better than a full site, because I think that instead of a full site of gossip and hot pictures, which I have my personal taste objections to, the regular updates (which we're still going to get, on a sidenote) just add a touch of sexiness to this place.

But yeah. If you don't like it, just don't go, that's what I'm planning on doing. And I'm DEFINITELY not gonna complain about the site -- mainly because, from a traffic point of view, I think it's a solid decision. Gossip websites, and celebrity nudie / sexy websites, get huge amounts of traffic. So the way I see it, www.moviehotties.com , with its easy to remember and type name, its combination of gossip scoops / news, women-in-the-business news, and high-res hot pictures library, is going to get a LOT of traffic, and that can only be a good thing, since it will bring more people into joblo.com, AND high traffic generates more revenue, through ads, merchandise, and so on, and all that revenue would then go to JoBlo & Cie., which can only benefit this place.
