I have just ordered a few films to add to my collection, i was wondering if anyone could fill mee in on the quality of the DVD's and if they were worth ordering. I'm not sure how many member their is on this board or how many are into Italian and European horror but w/e.

k i have on order:
Torso (Anchorbay DVD)*
The Prowler (Blue Underground)* (yes i realize its not Euro)
Inferno (AnchorBay DVD)*
Seven Bloodstained Orchids (not a huge fan of Lenzi, but i just picked up Nightmare City on DVD too)
The Initiation (Anchorbay)*

* means i've seen it.

Thanks, if ne1 has any info on the film transfers and sound quality i'd be glad to hear it. Aswell i have an old VHS of Torso and i hear the uncut DVD has some rather gruesome scene that are not in my VHS...including a few eye gouging scenes??? I dunno, if anyone could give mee some info it would be greatly apprechiated.

Torso (1973) Anchor Bays transfer is heads and shoulders above the previous VHS release, plus the film is presented un-cut fully restored. Additional: Some of Torso's 'English' soundtrack was either never recorded or lost. Some whole or parts of scenes are in Italian with English subtitles.

DVD Features: Audio Tracks: Italian (Dolby Digital 2.0 Stereo), English (Dolby Digital 2.0 Stereo) International Carnal Violence Trailer & U.S. Theatrical Trailer

The Prowler (1981) Blue Undergound has released this film restored and un-cut, the transfer is absolutely sweet and a major improvement over past video releases. A very underrated and overlooked 80's horror film, check it out!

DVD Features: Audio Track is Dolby Digital 2.0 Mono
Commentary by: Producer/Director Joseph Zito and Special Make-Up Effects Artist Tom Savini. Plus,Tom Savini's Behind-The-Scenes Gore Footage (*great feature)
Theatrical Trailer

Nice!, I've only seen The Prowler once on an old grainy, dark and worst of all cut VHS. It was pretty hard to tell exactly what was going on in certain scenes, and others were so heavily edited i didn't think much of them. I remember a scene where the killer stabbed a guy with a bayonette, and the blade comes out his chin... in the VHS this over hyped scene was nothing more then a quick flash. I am hoping my faith in Blue Underground's DVD isn't missplaced

As for Torso thats great to hear, i knew it had been heavily cut for the American VHS but i didn't know dialogue had been cut too, which reminds mee of Deep Red. Which is cool i think anyone who can watch Deep Red in one sitting and truly enjoy its storyline, interesting characters and vivid visuals is a true horror fan. I mean i've tried to watch it with certain ppl and they just get bored...but for mee it just grips mee and i can't look away, this is the feeling i remember about Torso. The scene which has grafted itself to my memory is when the girl runs away from the rapist stoner only to meet a very darker and much nastier fate once she becomes lost in a very eerie woods, those of you who have seen this little known film will know what i mean.

Well thanks Dead One for the info i look forward to hearing what others have to say about these films.

I liked The Prowler, but didn't love it. It does have some of the most convincing and best-looking death scenes I've ever seen.

Well Guys I'm Glad to say I 110% LOVED Torso...I think its truly an awesome film, true rare horror gem. I Highly recommend you guys (fellow poster's) check this Anchorbay DVD out...and fast. I hadn't seen this flick in years, were talkign a good 5-6 years maybe even longer. A few scenes i never forgot from the film and i'm glad to say its still just as good as it was when i was younger :D honestly i went into Torso expecting the usual slow-moving Italian horror, what i got was a well-paced, very well cast and some of the worst and cheesest effects i've ever seen.

Dispite the latter, the film has nothing wrong with it...the plot and motive for the brutal killings is very well planned and well thought out, and AnchorBay's uncut DVD is definately an upgrade over the old grainy and cut VHS i first saw this film on. Honestly i feel this film brings as much fun and tension to the screen as many of Dario Argento and Umberto Lenzi's films of this kind. If your a major horror fan, or a Eurohorror collector (like myself) this release is totally for you. :) I love it and i'm pretty sure alot of your guys out there will feel the same...as long as you can overlook the very bad effects.

My rating would be 5 out of 5 on the film, DVD gets 5 since its the best release this film is likely to ever see!

BTW: The sequence near the ending of Torso is completely ripped out and spliced into 2005's High Tension, the scene where the killer is slowly climbing the stairs while the innocent girl stuggles to clean the room. Just thought i should let you guys know i noticed how much of a rip off that scene in High tension really is.

The Prowler is a must for my horror collection. The movie was renamed for it's Austrlaian release. Called Rosemarys Killer.
