I just went over to MichaelBay.com and there's some news on there!
http://www.michaelbay.com/files/page0_1.jpg
I KNOW IT HAS BEEN A LONG TIME SINCE I'VE POSTED HERE, SORRY. I WANT TO TELL EVERYONE MY NEXT MOVIE IS TRANSFORMERS!!! I'M REALLY EXCITED ABOUT IT. WE HAVE BEEN DRAWING FOR NINE MONTHS. THE ALIEN ROBOTS ARE AWESOME. THE SCRIPT IS GETTING VERY CLOSE AS WELL. STEVEN SPIELBERG HAS BEEN VERY INVOLVED WITH ME ON THE SCRIPT, WORKING WITH KURTZMAN AND ORCI WHO JUST CAME OFF OF MISSION IMPOSSIBLE THREE. WE START SHOOTING AT THE END OF MAY FOR A 7-4-7 RELEASE. (HOW MUCH DO YOU WANT TO BET FANTASTIC FOUR WILL MOVE AFTER THEY SEE OUR STUFF) WE HAVE SOME MINDBLOWING IMAGES AND ACTION IN THIS FILM THAT I KNOW WILL SATISFY THE DEEP FAN BASE AND TURN NON TRANSFORMER FANS INTO ONE. THE MOVIE HAS REAL EDGE, HUMOR AND HEART.
THERE ARE SOME RABID FANS OUT THERE. I JUST FOUND OUT THAT WE HAD 9,456 ATTEMPTED HACKS INTO OUR SERVER THAT HOLDS THE MOVIE ART WORK JUST IN THE MONTH OF JAN. I HAD THAT SERVER
DISCONNECTED TODAY.
I WILL KEEP YOU IN THE LOOP WEEKLY -- NOW THAT I JUST REFIGURED HOW TO LOG ONTO THIS SITE.
THANKS,
MICHAEL BAY

Well I'm excited. I'm still not sure if Bay is the right person for the job even though his specialty is big action movies. But I'm still extremely excited.
But, just to get one thing straight, this is live action, right?

By the way, how cool would it be if they got the original voices for the movie? Most notably, Peter Cullen (as the awesome Optimus Prime) Chirs Latta (Starscream) and Frank Welker (Megatron and Soundwave). :D

You damn RIGHT IT IS.
For those in doubt, I can assure you there's no other more perfect choice for director of Transformers as Michael Bay. You can be angry at him all you want (mostly for no reason..) but he'll blow your socks off with this. I'm a big fan and supporter of Bay and I believe he can do this.

Michael Bay is a good choice for the flick; his style of action - particularly car chase sequences and what not. Plus the fact that Steven Spielberg is involved means that the movie has a very good chance that it'll kick ass anyway - with or without Bay.

Dont get me wrong I'm optimistic myself with Spielberg producing. Although I dont consider myself a fan of Bay, I'm still hopeful that he will try and stay faithful to the source material. However I doubt hell come close to topping the original.

I thought the original cartoon was great and everything, but I thought the movie was a great big "WTF!?!"
So, I'm really looking forward to a more competent and cohesive storyline with greater action in this one.

There but for the grace of god go I. That's what I'll be reciting when I go to see this film. Not because I don't like transformers but because Michael Bay is one inept director...in my humble opinion.
For the sake of this film and for the sake of transformers, I sincerely hope Mr. Bay will go beyond his usual self and do justice to the transformer universe.

Say, I was wondering if any of you fellow Transformers loving schmoes had a chance to pick up the 20th Anniversary Optimus Prime a few years ago. I collected the toys as a kid, and this is the best Transformer toy I have ever seen, and I owned the gigantic (and kick ass) Fortress Maximus back in the day. I managed to pick 2 of these bad boys up, one for mint in the box and one to open for display:

"Mostly for no reason?" How about every single movie he's put out has been a cliche ridden shit fest. I think that constitutes as good reason for not liking the guy. Just because you support his shitty, adolescent-boner-inducing action fucks doesnt everyone else has to.
You want my reason? Here's a very simple equation -
Live action Transformers film + Michael Bay = Worst idea in the very long, sad history of bad idea's.

Giant robots kicking each other's asses and transforming into cars.
Michael Bay is perfect for this. His movies got no plot and are all action which is what I want this film to be.
Does anyone want Transformers dialogue? Honestly?

Please, while Michael F'n Bay doesn't make the most "original" movies in Hollywood he still makes damn great entertainment. It's become a fashion to hate on Michael Bay. Every single movie you say?
Oh, so "The Rock" was cliche-ridden shit fest too, huh?
Now say for instance, you don't agree, and think that The Rock was indeed a great movie...this just proves the fact that people will not include the "good", but instead the 'weaker' films he has done and use that to say he's a bad director. Whatever.
I guess to each their own, can't change your mind about it, not going to try, don't want to.

^I agree, even if you dislake/hate (which is a strong word) Bay's other films, you gotta give him that The Rock is still good entertainment, regardless of intelligence. As Ebert put it (and this is not a direct quote, it's paraphrasing what I can't remember from his review) "It's not what story you're telling or how ludicrous it is, it's how you tell it." It's like James Bond movies. The best of the Bond movies makes you not even care about the stupidity of the plot. The worst make you think, "Come on! What the fuck?"

Thus far these are all the arguments I've heard against Michael Bay directing:
1. He makes movies geared toward Teenagers, with lots of explosions, car chases, and action, but with little substance.
2. He likes making huge special effects extravaganzas that will appeal to people seeking escapist entertainment.
3. He will probably make Transformers just so he could sell millions of toys.
.... And now I must point out that... THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT THE TRANSFORMERS ARE!
Come on people, we arn't talking about Michael Bay taking on GHOST IN A SHELL or EVANGHELEON or AKIRA, we're talking about Michael Bay taking on the TRANSFORMERS, the one anime that probably fits him best.

I wasn't aware it was a fad to hate Michael Bay. Sorry? Well, I myself happen to detest Michael Bay AND Jerry Bruckheimer, or as I like to call them; Bruckbaychaelheimer, so... do I still get to be an individual?
While I don't fully understand what you were trying to convey with that whole "good...great...weak" movie spiel, I can tell you right now that I DIDN'T hate The Rock, but I did find it mediocre. However, if you were to take Sean Connery out of the picture, I do belive it would fall under the aformentioned category.
Understand that I'm not trying to poison your thread, or start a fight with you, I was just a little surprised when you said everyone who hated MIchael Bay felt that way for "little or no reason," because here all this time I thought my hate was justified. Apparently I was obvlivious to the "fad" that I was subsequently following, however, so I guess I can't be held responsible for my actions.

Funny, how a lot of us seem to think the Island was a great movie (I know quite a few, including myself, who placed it in our top 10) and certainly better than the shit fest known as Fantastic Four.
I for one would rather the man continued to make movies rather then "choking somewhere", I don't give a shit how they do at the box office.

I can see why people don't like Michael Bay taking hold of this. He's only good for forgettable action movies that are just fluff. For me though, I find Transformers to be a pure action series so it fits.
Honestly, do I care about the drama between Optimus Prime and Megatron? I want to see shit blowing up and robots kicking ass, and in that respect Michael Bay DELIVERS.

Yes, I caught the update on the main page. Thanks for the scoop, Digifruitella.
I have to disagree with Mr. Bay as far as the original voices are concerned, especially in regards to Optimus Prime. I think it's imperitive that Peter Cullen at least be given the opportunity to voice for Prime. Sure it would be cool to see some of the old schoolers like Latta and Welker come on board too, but Cullen has to be in this movie. Cullen is to Prime what Christopher Reeve is to Superman...in that you immediately think of the other, at least I do. If Bay does anything "new" for this movie like he wants, I hope it's the whole scale ratio. I never complained as a kid, but how could stuff happen like Megatron who is as tall as Soundwave, transform into a gun in which Soundwave could hold in his hand?

My friend, you're preaching to the choir here. Though, if I were you, I'd take those expectations and put them somewhere near, oh...i don't know...say a raw sewage plant. Then may be, just may be, you might end up enjoying this film.
I certainly hope that I'm proven wrong in every possible way, but judging from Michael Bay's track record, I'm not going to hold my breath over this one.

Fair enough, but i think its kinda gay that Bay is making this into a competition. And IMO (which i know most dont agree with) FF was a million times better than The Island. I thought the first FF was arguably one of the best comic adaptions I've seen. And trust me i know most dont agree but i loved every second of it.
With that said, FF2 has absoletly nothing to worry about, and Fox knows that, do you really think a seqeul to a movie that made $329,972,194 world wide, is thinking about moving?
I just think its lame that bay has nothing better to do than to call shit on.

I have no problem with the Transformers movie haveing nothing to do with the cartoon. Reusing the original voice cast will do nothing but make people link the two entities. I think the movie can be its own movie, and the original stuff is its own stuff.
You know, like how Batman Begins has nothing to do with the previous movies. If everyone was cool with that, then why can't Tranformers be its own thing?
Two thoughts:
If Michael Bay WASN'T attatched to this, you just know they would get some commercial/music video hack to direct the movie. Someone like, I don't know, Tim Story! Who would do nothing for the movie except grant all the wishes of the studio overlords. At least Bay will but a unique spin on it and give it a voice (Granted, a lot of you don't like what the voice has to say, but at least it will have a voice, dammit!)
Second - while I have little doubt that the new movie will blow away our expectations and be better than we can ever imagine, it will not be able to out do the awesomely rockin soundtrack of the original movie. A modern rock soundtrack filled with crappy, trendy bands like Disturbed, Staind, Korn, Atreyu, My Chemical Romance, etc, simply cannot stand up to the likes of Stan Bush, Spectre General, NRG, and Lion.
