Is "Payola" still exists in the music biz today?

I say its is.... After watching an Expose of it profiled on ABC's Primetime Live its seems that this practice never died. It just lingered in different ways.
But this scheme is thee way to promote music artists?

I was reading somewhere (i beliveve USA Today) that Elliot Spitzer have been taking it to a few labels over payola.

I remember one of the bands involved was Audioslave.(not the band but the label)
