1- LOTR (10/10)
2- In The Bedroom (8.5/10)
3- Moulin Rouge! (8/10)
4- A Beautiful Mind (7.5/10)
5- Gosford Park (7/10)

I just think A Beautiful Mind was too much a movie made to win an oscar and that, really, it wasn't anything original, groundbreaking or new. But hey, did you ever saw any original, groundbreaking movies win an Oscar... Hmm, yes, last time it was in 1968 with Midnight Cowboy.

1. A Beautiful Mind-- 9
2. LOTR-- 8
3. Moulin Rouge-- 7

I want to see "In the Bedroom" so bad, it's not even funny. It has been playing at the movie theater I work at for the past month and a week, and it just left the theater on Friday. Gosford Park has been playing since the end of December, and it is still there. The only reason I haven't seen it is because the theater won't let me see it because I have not yet turned 17 (only a month and and 11 days to go). Even though I work there, they won't let me go in....[quietly he mutters].... bastards.....

2. Moulin Rouge!
3. LOTR:FOTR
4. Gosford Park
5. In The Bedroom

- As you can see I will be very happy if any movie other then ITB wins the award. ITB shouldn't have gotten it's nomination, neither should have Gosford Park. They should of put Black Hawk Down and Memento in the race instead.

I still haven't seen In the Bedroom or Gosford Park. It sucks living in a rural area as I do, and I'd have to travel quite far to see these two. I would, but school and drama take up a lot of time so...yeah.</font>

I have pretty much the same problem, but even worse as I don't live in the U.S .In the Bedroom hasn't even been released yet...

Anyways, I've seen these:

A Beautiful Mind 9/10
Lord of the Rings 7/10

well, if nothing else, you can always download those movies. With the Oscar coming, all those movies have really good DVD screener releases that you can get. Like Lord of the Ring DVD is out since mid January. All the others have had decent releases. Just search a little and you shall find.

It's never as good as seeing them in the Theatre. But hey, it's better then not seeing them at all.

While I loved Black Hawk Down and Memento as well, what was so wrong with In The Bedroom?

Colin -I did, but just as Kevin Smith felt his disdain for Magnolia growing and growing, my grade is slipping for this over-blown, showy, pretentious piece of overdone filmmaking.

1) A Beautiful Mind (4 of 4 stars)
2) Lord of the Rings (3.75)
3) Moulin Rouge! (3.5)
4) In the Bedroom (3.25)
5) Gosford Park (3)

I agree about Memento (but not really BlackHawk Down). The last two films on the list were suburbly-acted, but interminably slow pacing do them in for those who don't like indie-flix (I do, to a point).

There isn't really anything wrong with In The Bedroom. It has a wonderful story, and great acting but, I will have to agree with JoBlo when he says that it is just a little to slow. And BHD & Memento got higher grades from me then ITB did.

I did not catch In The Bedroom, as where the town I live in as a movie theater that smaller movies (even when nominated for Oscars!) are shown at...unfortunately, this movie theater has thin walls, so you can hear every other movie being played as well as your own. It is avoided at all costs...I'll have to wait till video http://www.joblo.com/ubb/frown.gif
