Just what the title says. I suddenly felt an urge for soothing melodies and I was wondering if somebody on here can point me in the right direction, even if you don't know anything in particular, perhaps a great website that can help me find what I'm looking for?

if 'soundscape' is an unfamiliar word for you, it's music that sounds like an acoustic environment or an environment created by sound.

Would Sigur Ros fit?

I'm afraid I dont know what you mean.

I mean, they're soothing.

actually, you're right Sigur Ros is very soothing and melodic, a lot of ambience in their music.

but I mean music without words, lyrics. Just music, nature music. Waves, birds chirping, forest sounds in other words = soundscape music :)

just pretty much music that you would play if you can't fall asleep or of that nature. Very surreal-like.

They're all pretty comprable, but usually the ones marked for meditiation have like synth music in the background. If you have a Nature's Co, or The Nature Shop at a local mall, they have a good selection and you can listen to it before buying. Most of the stuff they get in there is like the best quality though so it's hard to go wrong.
