Just curious Colin, if you rate Blade as the worst movie of 1998 with a 2/10, how much do you rate "Lost in Space" that came out the same year??? or for that matter: Godzilla or Patch Adams...???

Godzilla is the closest candidate I can think of to be worse than Blade (short of The Avengers). I'd give that a 3/10. Lost in Space I remember being pretty bad, but I'd have to watch it again to give a grade. It wouldn't be a 2/10 though. As for Patch Adams, I didn't think it was a bad movie! It wasn't great, just OK. 6/10.

I just really hated Blade. I thought it was pointless, annoying, boring and unentertaining. I know lots of people like it and that's fine, I'm just not among them...

species II also came out that year...
all i'm trying to say here is that it seems to me that you are not being objective, for all its defaults and shortcomings, i would say that blade was far from the worst movie of 1998 - and no i'm not a die hard fan. You just sound like you love to hate it. but, in the democratic spirit of joblo's club: to each his own. (i have trouble imagining you had more fun in Species 2 though ;-)

and don't even let me mention John Carpenter's Vampires also 1998

Didn't see Species II or Vampires. (Haven't seen the 98 version of Psycho, either.)

I don't love to hate Blade, I just hate it. Seriously, it felt like a three hour movie to me when I watched it. When I rate movies I don't differentiate between worst and least favorite (although I know there is a difference), I just mix them all up, and I found Blade to be the worst of that year. (There are other movies from 1998 that I haven't seen that are probably worse, but...well, I haven't seen them.) Call me crazy (or "not being objective"), but that's my opinion and so that's what I posted.

Didn't see Deep Impact, and I thought Armageddon was OK. Enjoyable if not taken seriously, and certainly not as bad as Blade.
