40 DAYS AND 40 NIGHTS (2002)

I finally got around to seeing 40 Days And 40 Nights and I must say I was a little disappointed. Now don't get me wrong, it was a good movie, but I expected more. But it's not the movies fault, my expectations were just set too high.

Josh Hartnett was charming as usual and did a good job of carrying a movie by himself. He's a really good and underrated actor. Shannyn Sossamon had her moments and did a decent job of acting. I didn't have a problem with her, but I did with her character. What I thought was really stupid was that her character, Erica, was always getting mad at Matt (Josh Hartnett) for the stupidest reasons. It was like this, they'd be together, then she'd get mad at him for something stupid, they'd be together, and she'd get mad again, they'd be together, and then she'd get mad, etc. It was a little sickening. It was like "Damn girl, get a life." I can just imagine their future together.

Other than that though I don't really have any complaints about the movie. It was funny and sweet and overall entertaining. Plus it had a lot of hotties in it. I do find it a little hard to believe though that the computer place he worked at wouldn't have a single ugly girl working there. But oh well, I didn't mind. I don't regret seeing it and I recommend it. See it in the theater if you want, there's nothing better to see out right now anyway. But it wouldn't hurt to wait for video either. I'll probably buy the DVD when it comes out. Hopefully it's a good DVD.

Grade: 7/10

I pretty much agree with your review, but I'd give it a 6/10. The jokes got a little old and repetitive near the end, if you ask me.

Not a bad movie, ThereWolf actually thought it was pretty funny at times, the best part is his entire 40th day when he becomes delusional, feels up a bottle of Mrs. Butterworth syrup, and has all these images of women in their underwear!

Funny and even sweet at times!
***1/2 out of five!

40 Days and 40 Nights...7/10

I wasn't sure how this movie would play out. I've seen a lot of comedies like this fail, but this one managed to stay fun through out. Yeah, it was kind of unbelievable, but not that far fetched. The cast was great, especially Josh Hartnett. He's a good looking guy who does not use his looks to put up a wall between him and the audience in this movie. He seems very human and sweet. This guy can actually act as well, unlike a lot of his teen heart-throb counterparts (Chris Klein, Freddie Prince Jr, etc...). Not setting the story in college or high school was a big part of the success of this movie. Overall, it was a solid comedy. The movie has enough laughs and, for the most part, is nice entertainment. Josh gets some big laughs, more than anyone else, but his roommate and his boss get some too. Josh has some good chemistry with Shannyn Sossamon as well.
