I liked it. Did any of you?

My favorite part of the movie wasnt in the actual movie though. It's the outtake on the DVD with Billy Bob. I dont wanna spoil it, but I laughed more at that than through the entire movie. Sure, the movie made me laugh some, I love dark comedy, but it was more of a drama, and I liked it. I know a lot of people didnt, so I'm curious if anyone else did.

I thought it was alright: 7/10

I liked the little homage it paid to the good ole film noir films of years past. Oliver Platt was hilarious, but the plot a little predictable and the ending wasn't all that suspenseful. Like AngelDust06 said: Good, but not great.

I plan on picking this up and watching it soon, John Cusack is the man.

I have to agreee with dman (again). I was so dissapointed in this film. Oliver Platt was funny but aside from that it was unbelievably dul. The story had no momenteum or suspense whatsoever and just lurched from one scene to the next. The whole film was so utterly boring. I really don't know what the point if this movie is. I dont mind character dramas about miserable people masquerading as a heist film (this was not a heist film) but these characters aside from Platt were so dull. There was just nohting there except nice suporting performances and a few good lines.

3/10

I heard the book was better so I bought that.

Entertained the shit out of me.

7.5/10

....Has some flaws though.

And any scene with Billy Bob and Platt was gold (especially Platt, who can play a amazingly funny drunk.)

Yeah, Oliver Platt was funny, but the film was dull, annoying, surprisingly un-stylish, and a bad noir flick in all.
The pay-off was knee-deep in shit because it was doomed from the beggining and nothign worth watching whatsoever.
Probably a 3 from me too now that I think about it.
Glad we agree and that someone also disliked it.

I despised The Ice Harvest as well, it was, in my opinion, one of 2005's worst films. Nothing really entertained me or made me laugh at all. Focus Features marketed this film as a "dark comedy," but it's more of a film noir, an awful film noir. Considering the talented cast and director, I was disappointed by how bad the film was.

I will admit, however, that Connie Nielsen was smoking hot. ;)

Gotta agree - despite the good cast a total misfire, but then, what did you expect from Harold Ramis?! He's directed one great movie - GROUNDHOG DAY - and mediocre fluff ever since. A complete waste of time this one.

Caddyshack . . . he also directed Caddyshack.

Uhm, and you consider Caddyshack to be a great movie?!
Oh, well... Bill Murray and Rodney Dangerfield (or was he only in Caddyshack II?) were great in it, but that movie plain sucked.

Hell yeah I consider it a great movie. Murray, Dangerfield, Knight, Chase, and the hot blonde (only Chase returned for the sequel). Caddyshack is one of the greatest comedies of all time.

I liked this movie. I especially liked Billybob Thorton's performance. He's the man. And yeah, Oliver Platt is funny as hell. John Cusack is good and Connie Nielsen is hot as hell and I loved Randy Quaid's scene.

As for Harold Ramis, besides Groundhog Day he also directed the awsome and hilarious Multiplicity and Analyze This. And the first National Lampoon's Vacation movie was good too.

Ice Harvest was average at best. Although I agree that it had a hard time making up it's mind at what it was supposed to be.

Caddyshack was a very funny film though. Rodney Dangerfield was in top form in that one.

Average attempt for a film noir, but was pretty decent. Well worth a rental. Nothing in this film merits such lousey scores of 3 and 4/10s

6.5/7/10

Its really the screenplay that earned such low scores for me.

Personally, it wasn't just the screenplay, but the entire film (with exception of Connie Nielsen's overwhelming hotness) that earned a grade of 3/10 (*1/2/***** stars) from me. I believe it deserves such a grade.

And I know many people, even those who hated the film as I did, will disagree with me about this, but I found Oliver Platt's character to be incredibly unfunny and obnoxious. If I had the great misfortune to meet such an obnoxious, annoying drunk of a man, I'd probably commit my first murder.

YES! I thought I was the only one who didn't like Platt's performance. Everyone in the theatre was laughing and all I wanted was to punch his character in the ear.

Overall, the movie was decent at best. Could've been great but it ended up being just decent. I gave it a 6/10.
