No, I don't mean a jail cell, but the Stephen King novel-soon-to-be-a-movie Cell. I'm a big Slater fan and was thinking how he would be great as the part of Clay in Cell. Anyone else think so? A role like this could really boost his sagging career. He really is a good actor, he just needs a decent role offered to him. Enough straight to videos, let's get Christian Slater in Cell!!

I wasn't aware Christian Slater still had a career. I thought last year's Alone in the Dark (which was actually in theaters, and not STV) killed it off, along with Stephen Dorff's.

Of course he does! If actors didn't have careers after a few bad movies Steven Segal and Van Damme would have vanished about 13 years ago! But somehow they manage to keep on churning movies out, and eventually one of them is able to stick (Segal - Exit Wounds). Besides, Slater is doing Broadway right now, The Glass Manegerie with Jessica Lange. And while I knew Alone in the Dark was in theatres, as well as Mindhunters (saw them both, I work at a movie theatre), it seems he has more straight to videos than theatrical releases (Pursued, Hard Cash, The Deal). Him and Stephen Dorff are both too cool to be wasted in the crappy films they do (Cold Creek Manor? Shame on you Stephen Dorff!). By the way, Dorff would make a good Raggedy Man in Cell! If I were only casting this movie...

At the very least, I think Christian Slater deserves a chance, and CELL actually doesn't sound so bad a movie (then again, I have a fascination for zombie movies).

Kill me but I think his role in The Name of the Rose still is his best.
He was cool in True Romance and Kuffs.
Guilty pleasure - Very Bad Things.

I'm waiting for his comeback.
As for the certain German director's film Slater evidently is in the good company of the Oscar winner and Ron Howard's brother!

 ;)

As I was reading Cell, the last person I could've pictured as Clay would be Christian Slater:rolleyes:
