I'm not gonna hate on him, he seems pretty talented and he's got a possitive message, but yeah he comes off kinda gimmicky.

He's not only gimmicky, he's a gimmick.
Awful record.

It's not awful, but Live At Stubb's is much better.
And yes, he's a gimmick.

I've listened to it and I just can't help but burst out in tears with laughter when I do so. I can't approve of his schtick being Jewish myself, but he's earning money so...good for him.

It's a gimmick, DUH!
He's Jewish, sure, but he's capitalizing on his heritage and way of life for attention in the media... which means he's a gimmick. And it's quite a schtick, but also rather insulting. And I'm not even Jewish!

When I heard about this guy, I looked him up to try and figure out how serious he was about Judaism, and while the money may becoming in because of a gimmicky image, this guy isn't playing around with his beliefs. He's an Orthodox Jew, and as a non-religious person who has been brought up in a Jewish home with a father who knows a very great deal about Jewish culture, you don't just say you're Orthodox. It takes a lot of work to get to that level, and more work to stay at it. He's a member of the Lubavitch Hasidic Community in New York, and those guys don't play around, either. It's not like he wears the clothes on stage just because they make a good show, those are the clothes that he or any other members of his community would wear anywhere.

Yeah but he's just not that good. All of the attention being directed toward him is because of his Orthodox image, if he didn't have it he'd still be working a soup kitchen somewhere.
So even if it's an authentic gimmick, it's still a gimmick.
