At the end of the movie "In The Bedroom", Matt Fowler makes a comment to his wife Ruth, that he saw a picture of Natalie & Richard on the wall of Richard's house, where Natalie had this big smile on her face and something about her just didn't seem right to Matt. What was the significance of this scene?

It sounds too weird, but I'm predicting that maybe marisa toemi had something to do with the killing?

imo that scene meant that richard and natalie were in love once, that they(richard in particular)were real people not just a cold blooded man who took away his son. i think he saw a man who was loved by his family. then the realiazation kicked in that even though richard had killed his son,he just took a mans life who had children and a family and that he would be missed, and it hurt him that he killed richard.
