Called Dani California, after a few listens it has done nothing for me.
I'll try to find a download of it somewhere and upload it. I'm disappointed with this song, it's pretty boring :(

It's good, but its not as good as their past few lead singles. By The Way and Scar Tissue were such great songs right off the bat. This one I know will grow on me, but I was hoping it would be better.
John Frusciante is definately one of the best guitarists out there though.

It's an Omar Flea Frusciante jam.

Song is weak, and I don't like the video, either. Might give the rest of the album a try, but I'd rather listen to more of their old stuff that I haven't heard.

Only about six songs have been leaked in the last two and a half months...

Yes, Frusciante is considered an “official unofficial” member of the Volta... I hear the album is pretty sick too.
I’m glad to see John try other things, it seems to clear his mind some. And if the Peppers want to stay alive for another five to ten years from now, they need him willing and ready. I guarantee you once he gets bored, he’ll leave.

NOPE! YOU HAVE BEEN DENIED!
As an official member of the chili peppers fan club, I’ve only been able to downloaded nine bootlegs of the entire 28 track listing, and we normally get first dibs over everybody on the net.
Here are the current available bootlegs:
21st century
Dani California
Desecration smile
Hump de Bump
Only 18
Ready made
Tell me baby
Wet sand
And a 27 second snippet of SNOW
If you’re that one lucky bastard that actually DOES, indeed have all the tracks to the album... well, by god you better post it. And fast.

I don't know about anybody else, but I happen to love the song. It's got a great chorus and it's a good song all around (in my opinion). I still prefer old RHCP, but I really like this.

Psychocandy, why don't you just rename the thread to be the album rather than the single since it's kind of shifted gears to the album now.
As for the album leak, I'll wait for a rip that isn't AAC. That's the worst.

I don't quite agree. Although Frusciante is my all time favorite guitarist, the Peppers did some amazing shit before he was even in the band, and even when Dave Navarro was the guitarist. John has a great influence on their new sound, though...

If you stripped this album of the less stellar tracks (there's nothing truly bad and I can't bring myself to call the lesser tracks filler) and pared it down to a single album containing only the best songs does anyone think the resultant album would be better than By The Way (in my opinion the best album the Chili Peppers have released so far). I've not listened to it enough to judge myself. But i'd be interested in hearing some opinions from those of you who have already spent a bit of time with the album.

I gues s Ill have to be the minority here. Ive listened to about half the album so far and its fantastic. Ive never understood what was so appealing about early Chili Peppers especially BloodSugarSexMagic and Mothers Milk. Still I loved Californication and this album so far easily trumps that.
I got this along with the new Pearl Jam. I like two songs on that thats about it

This cd kicks ass. It has a great mixture of slow, chillin songs and some great funkny ones. I must say Anthony's vocals have really improved over the years. I will definitely be seeing them when they come to Chicago.

Keep in mind Ive only listened tp the first CD so far but I like it when they do the more acoustic/funk/melodic rock that permeates this album.

So I've now had time to listen to the album a few times. I love how its so diverse with so many different RHCP styles on there.
Best tracks?
"Turn It Again"
"Tell Me Baby"
"Dani California"
"Slow Cheetah"
"Wet Sand"
To name a Top 5 at the minute..."Turn It Again" is an epic and for me the standout. John really has the chance to shine on that track!
Oh and sorta funny story. Last Saturday I went to the local "indie/rock" venue at my town Soundhaus and when they played "Dani California" I went crazy playing air guitar on the dancefloor. The missus wasnt impressed...I blame the numerous pints of Stella!

i havent had the privelage of listening to this album yet, but hope to real soon...i hope there is some really funky tunes on their... i love it when keides does his rap thing... id truthfully rather hear him rap than most raps out there... and i just wish they would do another song thats on the same line as sikamikaniko.... a song no one really knows about so i dont even know how well known it is...

This is most definitely the best album of the year so far... The quality of the CD itself deserves a fucking Grammy. And the songs… good lord, they’re unbelievable. I’m still thrown back about it all.
I’ll be in line to see them as soon as the gates are open...

I think this album suffers from Use your Illusion syndrome. There are alot of really good songs but they are pasted together with quite a bit of bland mediocre ones. Disc 2 totally outweighed disc 1 as far as having kick ass content. One thing that is consistent is Frsciantes fucking awseome guitar wailing throughout the album. Beautiful stuff. My friends and I just scored tickets to the RHCP/Mars Volta show at the end of the summer so I'm stoked. Live both bands dwarf most other artists live work.

Wow.
So I bought the album last week and I haven't stopped listening to it. RHCP are one of my favourite bands and this stuff is gold, just gold.
At first I was a bit skeptic. While the album was undeniably good when I first listened to it, I could never compare it to Blood Sugar Sex Magik or Californication, both completely revolutionary albums for the band. But after much more listening to it, the album really started to grow on me, and there are many songs on it that I can totally see becoming RHCP classic staples in the future.
So far I've mainly been listening to the first 10 or so tracks on the first disc, and only listened to the second disc like twice. I don't know how anybody can say this stuff is bad unless they just don't like the band's style - every song on the album is great. Obviously some stand out as excellent, but there really isn't one song on the album that I can say is "bad". The album is extremely diverse, combining all of the band's styles: pop/mainstream, hard rock, funk, slow ballads, etc. It's all there, and the album is perfectly balanced, without really emphasizing anything, and the order of the songs from a listening standpoint is perfect.
Favourite songs:
1. Hump de Bump (can't get enough of this. I really hope they release this as a single)
2. Snow (Hey Oh)
3. She's Only 18
4. Slow Cheetah
5. Torture Me
6. Tell Me Baby
7. Storm in a Teacup
8. 21st Century
9. Dani California
10. Stadium Arcadium
This isn't to say that the other songs aren't good... it's just, these are the songs that I simply can't get enough of.
I haven't yet decided if I agree with the band that this is the "best work they've ever done" - as with good movies, it'll take a while for it to sink in, and I'll have to see how well the album ages for me, but what's for sure is that this is definitely AS GOOD AS the band's best work on Blood Sugar Sex Magik and Californication.

I think it's one of the best albums of the year so far....and one of their better ones.
Anyone who dislikes the recent Chili Peppers should kinda take a step back and realize that these guys have no reason to be putting out anything close to being this good at this stage in their careers. They could easily just do the same thing they did on the last disc or something equally bland after the "drug years" like most bands do.

I just got into their catalogue to coincide with SA. I previously just had Californication and What Hits. Mother's Milk is my favorite so far. SA is slowly growing on me after each listen. Torture Me is my personal favorite on the album.

The more you listen to it the better it gets... Kind of like wine, except on a smaller time scale.
In my opinion, the first CD outweighs the second... but here’s a list of all the better songs on the album (if not the most memorable):
