I am not sure if anyone has started a thread on this, but I have noticed the price of DVD's actually go up by $2-$4.00 CAD. I used to see DVDs for approx $21.99 - $23.99 CAD now for around $24.99-$26.99. Also there are more simultaneous releases of regular and special edition 2 disc sets with the 2 disc sets being approx $6.00 CAD more. Case in point Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire and King Kong. Any opinions on the reason for this? Maybe I am just halucinating or something?

What I like to see is the King Kong single-disc for $19.99, and the 2-disc for $22.99. Why wouldn't you just pay the extra $3 for the extras?

Just look hard enough and you can find great deals out there. I picked up the 2 disc of Kong for 17 bucks at Tower Records. Usually Circuit City has the best deals every week when it comes to dvds. Like when A History of Violence and Good Night, and Good Luck came out, they were both 14.99. You can also price match just about anywhere too. And don't forget about Walmart, they usually have great deals too, just as long as you're not against shopping there, which you shouldn't be.

Remember, I am talking about Canada. At Best Buy this week, Narnia the barebones DVD was 23.99 while the 2 disc set was 34.99. Just a few months ago, a two-disc set would have been 24.97. If I wanted a barebones DVD, I would just go to the local flea market and get one for $17 or $18 CAD. If it was at Visions, it would have been $21.88 and 28.88. Oh well, whatcha gonna do?

Future Shop/Best Buy had Narnia for $19.99 on the first day. Walmart was $19.76 or something...
The one disc version has an SRP of $37.99 and the two disc version has an SRP of $44.99...so $23.99 (which is below cost) is 37% off SRP. Pretty good IMO. The tax part sucks though :)
