Well maybe he was superhuman too?
I really don't care about this. The may I think of it is that they just wanted to make another six movies so they brought him back. The way I think if it, Loomis and Myers died at the end of Halloween 2. After 2 the series went to hell, including 4 and 6 which i love.
Plus horror movies never really had great continuity. Look at the Friday the 13th series.

H2 was meant to be the last of the Michael Myers storyline, so Michael Myers and Dr. Loomis were both supposed to be dead at the end. And HIII and beyond was supposed to go in a different each film...but, we all know how that turned out.
So, from 1983 to 1987, the franchise was dead and so was Michael Myers and Dr. Loomis. However, Moustapha Akkad believed that he could move on with the same story fans once loved. So, he made a new H-movie and brought back the original storyline. It was simple, Michael is the boogeyman, so it's possible he survived and has been left in a coma that last decade...until now! His wounds have mostly healed and he's back!
However, Akkad also knew he had no story without the arch-rivalry angle that made the H1-2 so good, so he brought back Loomis. He survived with scars and a hobble in his walk. That's why Loomis lived on. Sure, his survival may account as a "plot hole," but without him, H4-6 may very well been worse films than fans already think of the films today. Dr. Loomis was the one thing that kept them all together to better degrees. Yeah, his survival is impossible, but they did that because without him, there was no story. I don't know about you guys, but I can live with that.

I'm glad Loomis was still around because he was myfavorite charecter and wtihout him the series would be terrible, not that it isn't

I hope they bring the character of Dr.Loomis back in the redux/prequel....He's Michael only true rival in the series...
My money is on Brian Cox...

There was scene scripted, but never filmed that show how Loomis survived. I can't remember the exact details, but it is possible, but I think with horror movies you have to let your belief go out the window.

For Loomis and Myers to actually "die" at the end of part 2 would have been the best thing for the series. But money makes the world go round and without those two characters there is no Halloween series.

It doesn't exactly bother me that Loomis survived the explosion. It isn't the CRAZIEST thing to conjure up. Michael is unkillable anyways so of course he would have survived. Loomis and Myers being brought back was what was best for the series. Now if Laurie Strode comes back (again) then I won't be able to say the same. Well thats all for now GOoD JOURNEY my fellow schmoes.

Like Duke Nukem said, the end of Halloween 2 was originally slated to be the end of it all, but $$$$$$.
Personally, I would have preferred, from an artisitc point of view, for Halloween and Halloween: H20 to be the only installments, just looking at the series as a whole. They could have ended the original with Myers being loose and missing, and then, when H20 started, he would still be out there since that's more believable than, you know, him still being "out there" after he burned to death at the end of Halloween 2. (I just don't get that.) Then, Laurie could have finished him off at the end of H20.
